光源氏 二七～二八歳

わりなくもわかれがたしと
しら玉の涙を流す琴のいとかな
雷雨はなおも続き、ついに邸は雷に打たれ一部炎上してしまう。光源氏は、亡き桐壺帝（きりつぼてい）が「住吉の神の導きに従って、早くこの地を去れ」と告げる夢を見る。翌日、明石入道（あかしのにゅうどう）が源氏を迎えに来た。源氏は夢のお告げに従い、明石へ移った。
明石入道はかねての願い通り、娘を源氏に差し出す。娘は身分の違いから気が進まず、なかなか源氏に心をひらかずにいたが、やがて二人は結ばれ、明石の君（あかしのきみ）は源氏の子を身ごもった。
一方都では、源氏追放を企てた太后弘徽殿（こきでん）が物の怪に病み、朱雀帝（すざくてい）の眼病も悪化する。天の諭しであると、朱雀帝はついに源氏に赦免の沙汰を出す。源氏は、明石の君に必ず都に迎えることを約束して、帰京の途につくのであった。
