Hosted and presented by Vic Senese, RN, BSN, FAUNA, this video explains how urinary catheters are designed to stay in place, what normally keeps them secure, and the most common reasons a catheter may accidentally come out. This episode is designed for patients, caregivers, and family members who want clear, practical information—without medical jargon. Understanding when a catheter issue is an inconvenience versus a true emergency can help reduce stress and improve safety at home.

  • (Audio) Struggling to Urinate? How Aquablation Helps Prostate Blockage
    Jan 10 2026

In this episode of UroPatient, host Vic Senese, RN, BSN, FAUNA, explains how Aquablation therapy is helping men find relief from prostate blockage caused by benign prostatic hyperplasia, or BPH.

An enlarged prostate can lead to frustrating and disruptive symptoms such as weak urine stream, difficulty starting urination, frequent nighttime bathroom trips, incomplete bladder emptying, and urinary retention. For many men, medications may stop working—or cause unwanted side effects.

Aquablation is a minimally invasive, robot-assisted procedure that uses a high-pressure, heat-free water jet to precisely remove prostate tissue blocking urine flow. Unlike traditional prostate surgeries, Aquablation relies on real-time ultrasound and robotic mapping, allowing the surgeon to target only the tissue causing obstruction.

    • What Aquablation is and how it works

    • Who may be a good candidate for Aquablation therapy

    • How Aquablation differs from TURP, laser, and other BPH treatments

    • Potential benefits, including symptom relief and preservation of sexual function

    • What recovery typically looks like after the procedure

Aquablation is FDA-cleared and may be an option for men with moderate to severe BPH, including those with larger prostates. As with any medical treatment, it’s important to discuss risks, benefits, and alternatives with a qualified healthcare provider.

If you or someone you love is dealing with prostate blockage, this episode provides clear, trustworthy education to help you make informed decisions about your care.
