  • Face like a slapped arse
    Aug 1 2025

In this episode of Untidy, Matilda and Hannah show up with raw faces and ready for bed! Loving a segue, as they do, this leads seamlessly into a chat to unpack the revelation of Matty’s face sculpting and facing the question of if, when, or, under what conditions one should consider a little bit of Botox. Will they be the only wrinkly grannies left standing, or can we make aging cool again whilst lead an aggressive sombrero movement?

They enjoy some secondary satisfaction courtesy of Matty’s home organisers and her new life as a woman with labelled jars in her pantry, debate what Buster wants more – a puppy or peace, and take an unscheduled detour into the rise and fall of wet nursing.

It’s your classic unhinged evening record!

  • Road trips, rants, and renovations
    Jul 18 2025

Come for the glow worms, stay for the rants! In this episode of Untidy, Hannah’s dialling in from the road, three-quarters deep into a 12-night solo parenting road trip around Northland, while Matty’s enforcing home renos by pulling the place apart.

But, it’s not all laughs and sandboarding, as the girls get stuck into discussing the motherhood penalty after receiving a gut-punch of an email from a listener echoing the the reality of so many women juggling caregiving with careers. The rage is real. So is the systemic failure.

In a loop back to serendipity, the girls chat about how some of life’s greatest gifts come in the weirdest packaging and end on a sexy sidebar salivating over storage solutions.

  • To love and let go with Tim Bateman
    Jul 11 2025
In this episode of Untidy, Matilda and Hannah chat to passionate dad, former professional rugby player, children’s book author, and owner and founder of nationwide wellness centres, O-Studio, Tim Bateman. Tim talks about the highs, heartbreaks, and hard-earned wisdom of raising two daughters as a young parent from the baby years to boyfriends and beyond. Tim became a dad at 19 while juggling playing professional rugby and working towards a law degree. He determinedly built a life centred around family with the intention not just to parent, but to be a good parent. Now, with his girls in their late teens, he reflects on the joy he found in the early years and the challenges of adolescence and adulthood while he navigates the art of letting go. Tim discusses the shock of sudden teenage transformations and parenting without a roadmap, but relying on three profound rules throughout. He shares their relationship rituals, how he’s staying relevant, and why sometimes the most powerful thing a dad can do is simply stay present, patient, consistent, and quiet, but ready with the right question if they’re open to listening! Tim also shares openly about growing up alongside his partner, Laura, after they met at just 15. How they navigated early parenthood, big life changes, and serious health challenges. With a relationship forged in the fire of real life, he reflects on the rituals and intentional time together that have helped them stay connected over the years, and how he’s tried to model a healthy, respectful partnership to his daughters. Now, with their daughters becoming more independent, Tim talks about reclaiming time for himself and for their relationship, enjoying the space to be in each other’s company as life opens up again. • Running a tight ship with Art Green
    Jun 27 2025

In this episode of Untidy, Matilda and Hannah invite Art Green to step aboard something of a leaky conversational boat. Ever progressively humbled from his distinguished days of being Aotearoa’s favourite Bachelor, Art’s now deeply embedded in the role of Stay At Home Dad, where he prides himself on running a tight ship. Together, he and Matty attempt to unpack the realities of swapping traditional roles, but mostly get side-tracked by divergent yarns and designing, Maurice, the perfect imaginary personal assistant.

In a chat that’s both full of hysterical giggles and uncomfortably real, Art reflects on his admiration for single parents and the realisation that most praise he gets for parenting comes from the novelty of being a dad who shows up to do what many mums do largely unremarked upon everyday.

There’s also an admirable listener submission for their extended ‘trampolining session’, tips for cleaning vomit out of car seats, book recommendations, and some cute mutual appreciation amongst the group. Whether you’re a tag-teaming couple, a solo parent on fumes, you’ll feel seen in this one ... or, at least, quite well entertained.

  • Smashing the motherhood penalty with Emma Mclean
    Jun 20 2025
In this episode of Untidy, Matilda and Hannah are joined by the fiercely insightful Emma McLean, founder of Works for Everyone, who’s on a mission to dismantle the motherhood penalty and reimagine how work and family can coexist. Emma brings 25+ years of corporate experience and the lived reality of parenting and solo-parenting three children while navigating a system that quietly punishes caregivers, especially women. Emma talks about how workplaces edge mothers out of leadership, how returning parents get offered ‘pity roles’, and why the most important career decision you’ll ever make is who you partner with, and how the dynamics at home directly affect your confidence, ambition, and financial future. The girls explore why resentment builds when one parent gets to stay late at work while the other carries the mental load of school lunches, daycare hours, and being the default caregiver, and how partners can start having the brave, messy conversations to find better balance. If you’ve ever felt your career got parked or stuck in reverse when you had kids, or, this is something you want to avoid, this episode is a call to action for parents, partners, and employers. It’s not just about helping mums, it’s about building a system that actually works for everyone.About EmmaEmma Mclean is a mum of three and founder of Works for Everyone, a professional development business that partners with NZ's leading corporates to help them retain and grow their working parent talent. She does this through innovative leadership programmes, executive coaching and keynote speaking. She founded her business in 2019 following a 20-year career in corporate strategy where she experienced first-hand how hard it was to have a career and a family. As an impatient optimist when it comes to system change, she launched her successful podcast ‘How to Smash the Motherhood Penalty’ in 2023 where she talks to humans who are actively working to change the system that creates financial penalties that only mothers pay. In 2024 she launched the first NZ Part Time Power List – to shine a light on those senior roles in NZ that are career building, not side stepping. • Best bits: Dr Lara Briden — The fear and ecstacy of perimenopause
    Jun 18 2025

In this mini-episode of Untidy, Matty and Hannah revisit their conversation with world-renowned naturopathic doctor and women’s health expert Dr Lara Briden when they chatted all things women’s hormones. Lara reframes the way we think about perimenopause. So many women approach their late 30s and 40s with a quiet sense of dread, unsure of what’s coming or how to prepare for it. But as Lara explains, perimenopause isn’t something to fear, but something to understand. She helps us see that this season of hormonal change doesn’t mean we’re broken, and rather than an indication of aging, it’s a hormonal event — a second puberty. If anything, it’s an invitation to reconnect with our bodies and take back the narrative.
