  • Cherub Sanson: Don't repress the mess, express it, shake it out. The use of sound to balance chaos and spreading love, colour and joy
    Jun 8 2025

On this episode of The Mess We're In I talk to the sonic goddess that is Cherub Sanson.

Cherub is a sound artist, teacher and protectress of high frequency. She also operates and vibrates at the highest frequency and you cannot help but feel joy in her presence and be positively effected by the immense energy she emanates.

I'm lucky enough to have met her many moons ago whilst living in Leeds, in a very different energetic period of our lives and have watched her phenomenal career in sound build over the years into the empire it is now. When we understand that we are all energy, constantly vibrating at different frequencies, our perspectives shift.

You can find our more about Cherub , the teachings she offers with partner in sound Tim Wheater on her website and purchase her own branded Cherabella crystal bowls .

Also follow her on INSTAGRAM where you'll find info about events she's involved in, the sister sound circles , prayer circles she offers and more.

The album she references at the end of the episode is the gorgeous 'Where is Home' by Abel Selaocoe

  • Laura Dockrill: Floating through not fighting through, equipping more people and children with knowledge around mental health and writing to exist in the world
    Jun 1 2025

On this episode of The Mess We're In, I'm honoured to have my truly inspirational friend Laura Dockrill

Laura is an author, script writer, playwright, poet, illustrator, podcast host, speaker, Women's Fiction Prize judge - the list goes on!

The strings to her bow are endless and she is an absolute JOY.

We first met many moons ago through the music industry, but really connected after becoming mothers and sharing lots of open conversation around postpartum mental health, as well as sharing lots of giggles.

*Warning - this episode does contain lots of open conversation around mental health*

Laura's 2020 memoir 'What Have I Done' is a raw, yet uplifting and life affirming recollection of her experience of postpartum psychosis, which she developed after the birth of her son.

The work Laura has managed to do by taking literally the darkest, most frightening time, transforming it into the book and enabling dialogue around maternal mental health is incredible.

Laura is an ambassador for the charity Action on Postpartum Psychosis and has been breaking down a lot of stigma the past few years, generating more hope and less shame for anyone who has ever struggled with perinatal mental health issues.

She has also written beautiful, empowering children's books 'Grey' and "I Am Strong Just Being Me' that equip children with importance of being aware of their feelings and emotions and encourage their uniqueness and individuality.

Laura's most recent 2024 highly acclaimed, first adult novel 'I Love You, I Love You, I Love You' is the most heart wrenching, delicious, nostalgic story of finding your first true love, that I implore all to read! More writing is on the way and I cannot wait for what come next. Laura writes feelings and I am so very grateful for her.

  • Jon Salmon: A royal introduction to campaigning for mental health awareness, dyslexia and the benefits of running and messy nature
    May 25 2025
On this episode of The Mess We're In, I talk to brilliant friend Jon Salmon. Jon is an award-winning executive producer, co-founder of Byte Entertainment and Co-CEO of Speakers Collective. When I met Jon I was overwhelmed by how generous he is with the time he dedicates to supporting and championing others and it was glorious to hear the stories about his journey and all the amazing organisations he’s been involved with.**Content Warning** This episode discusses themes of suicide and mental illnessJon lost his father to suicide when he was a teenager. A few years later after starting his first job he was sectioned and admitted to hospital with stress and depression. Luckily, Jon was able to get the right help in the end and returned to work a year later. However, Jon decided not to tell anyone about his mental illness or Dad's suicide for nearly 20 years due to the stigma and effect he thought it would have on his career and friendships. It was sadly after the suicide of a close friend due to postnatal depression in 2016 that Jon decided he had to speak out. Jon couldn't have picked a more public platform to talk about mental health when he spoke alongside the Prince and Princess of Wales as part of the Heads Together mental health campaign. Jon has since gone on to be the Co-CEO of the Speakers Collective not for profit, challenging stigma and facilitating important conversations with over 200 lived experience speakers. Jon is the Co-producer of What's Going On In Your Head exploring the secret inner workings of the mind through performance art and discussion.A trustee for Let's Talk About Loss a charity for young people who have been bereaved, and a mentor for The House of St Barnabas Soho, employment academy to break the cycle of homelessness.Jon is a keen fundraiser and enjoys being involved in challenges that raise awareness, funding, and research into mental health support. Jon lives in London, a proud Dad and speaks openly about mental health and being dyslexic in the hope it will help others ask for help and save lives.
