Dr. Corley creates the kind of culture in schools that we all dream about. Her staff's goal is to prepare their students to do anything in the world as emotionally stable people. When a child is misbehaving, they look to what the behavior is communicating in order to give them the words to say what is behind the behavior. Dr. Corley seems to effortlessly know how to handle all kinds of problems with children, their parents, and the teachers. Her 40 years in school systems makes it look easy. Her voice is her gift. Despite some challenges throughout her career, Meryl has never given up. Her motto is to "Be Unstoppable, Keep Following Your Passion and Pursuing Your Dream. Meryl's dream is to sing at the Metropolitan Opera in New York City. She also wants to keep the arts alive and thriving. Connecting these two gave her the idea of creating a fundraiser to benefit the Met. She wants to bring a famous MC, opera singers, and opera students together on one night, giving herself and others the chance to sing at the Met, and raise funds for her special place. Bio: Dramatic Soprano, Meryl Sher, possesses a voice of wide range, versatility and dramatic intensity. Miss Sher graduated Oberlin College and received her early musical training at The Juilliard School of Music Pre-College Division where she was awarded a scholarship for her musical excellence. Prior to her passing, Miss Leonie Rysanek heard Miss Sher sing and her comment was, “My dear, you have a voice we hear seldom in a lifetime – You have the fach of Birgit Nilsson.” James McCracken, the internationally - renowned tenor heard her Santuzza and asked the director, “What are your plans for this artist? She has a major talent.” Most recently, Miss Sher performed a concert entitled, “Heroes, Villains & Lovers” with arias and scenes from Tosca, Die Tote Stadt, Gotterdammerung, Tannhauser, Siegfried as well as show tunes. Prior to that, she staged, produced and sang the lead of Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana as well as an opera concert in 2022 with arias and duets, “Passionate Voices Celebrating Opera.” Miss Sher performed in a charity concert at St. Bart’s Church for “Be An Angel” raising over $20,000 for physically-challenged children. She made her professional debut as Violetta in La Traviata at the International Opera Festival in Acapulco, Mexico. She performed the first act duet from Tosca in a Master Class with Placido Domingo in Pittsburgh and was a recipient of a grant from the Wagner Society. She also won the New York City 92nd Street Y Concerto Competition. Meryl thought she would never sing opera again after a number of years where an illness prevented her from following her passion.     S2 EP30 | Healing the World Through Art and Creating Beauty with Lynnie Sterba Lynnie's mother and aunt are artists. Lynnie gravitated towards art throughout her life, but didn't think she was allowed to be an artist. Her father did not think it was a practical career.. Lynnie studied journalism, advertising and then social work instead. Through some transformational work, Lynnie was urged to let herself allow her art to come through her. In May, Lynnie and her mother are creating a mother/daughter art show. Stay tuned for that. Lynnie Sterba creates paintings as reflections of her passion involving her inner spiritual and objective analysis of the subject. Her thoughts and feelings transcend the ordinary as she restructures nature’s many moods. What is particularly important is the healing nature of her work. Sterba starts every painting by writing the word “love” on the canvas. This process grounds her and endows her work with the inspiration she hopes clients can bring into their own lives. Sterba adapted her calligraphy from the way Zen painters work with line. The bold brush marks and color are influenced by the pure self- expression of the Fauve painters. Fluidity of paint, movement, texture, and design are inspired by the Abstract painters, most notably, Joan Mitchell. Sterba’s work has been featured in art galleries as well as art museums including Los Angeles County Museum of Art Sales and Rental Gallery and the Long Beach Museum of Art Biennial Art Auctions.     Title: S2 EP24 | Re-Sensitizing America After The Sandy Hook Massacre | Stephanie Cinque Sometimes people rise to the occasion after tragedy. Stephanie Cinque felt called to help her community after the Sandy Hook Shooting by creating The Resiliency Center of Newtown. She is a social worker who saw her neighbors suffering a traumatized and knew that she needed to bring the community together. She found a place, hired mental health professionals and provided a safe place for survivors to be healed. Bring tissues to listen to Stephanie's story. You will be moved by her courage, determination, wisdom and grace. In the 12 years since the shooting, unfortunately, she has been able to help other communities recover after shootings. She is determined to spread awareness in how to heal, but more importantly, in how to prevent future shootings. Stephanie is educating others with how to heal our mental health crisis, recognize signs that could prevent other shootings, and teaching people not to worry alone. Isolation is a health hazard.
