Title: S2 EP34 | What If Schools Were Magical Wonderful Places for Students, Teachers and Administrators? with Dr. Kathleen Corley When I read "The Magical Place Called School" by Dr. Kathleen Corley, I knew I needed to share her message. Dr. Corley creates the kind of culture in schools that we all dream about. Her staff's goal is to prepare their students to do anything in the world as emotionally stable people. When a child is misbehaving, they look to what the behavior is communicating in order to give them the words to say what is behind the behavior. Dr. Corley seems to effortlessly know how to handle all kinds of problems with children, their parents, and the teachers. Her 40 years in school systems makes it look easy. I believe that all teachers, parents and administrators would benefit by reading Dr. Corley's book. It has certainly given me an appreciation and hope for the next generation of children. If every school district could be like hers, the world would be a better place. Thank you. Dr. Corley for sharing your genius with the world. Dr. Kathleen Corley is an award-winning educator, an authority on school culture and the charismatic principal at Red Cedar Elementary School in Bluffton, S.C. Renowned for her unique communication and leadership skills, Dr. Corley has a bachelor’s in music education from the University of Illinois; a master’s in music administration from Chicago Musical College, Roosevelt University; and a doctorate in educational administration from the University of Illinois. An educator for more than 40 years, she is the founding principal of three elementary schools, including Bluffton Elementary, and later Red Cedar Elementary, serving as its only principal. She has been an assistant professor at Salem State University, and continues to mentor principals. For her musical training and her leadership, Dr. Corley is known as a Pied Piper of Education. Miss Sher graduated Oberlin College and received her early musical training at The Juilliard School of Music Pre-College Division where she was awarded a scholarship for her musical excellence. She has a major talent.” Most recently, Miss Sher performed a concert entitled, “Heroes, Villains & Lovers” with arias and scenes from Tosca, Die Tote Stadt, Gotterdammerung, Tannhauser, Siegfried as well as show tunes.
