·      Life is full of sudden storms.   There are big storms, small storms, short storms and long term storms. 

·      Believers are not guaranteed a storm-proof life. 

2.     Storms arrive without good reason. 

·      Some storms are for testing 

·      Some storms prove God’s power

·      Some storms are self-inflicted – our failures!!!

3.     Storms cannot be controlled.

·      We have no control over the wind or waves of life

·      We cannot control how long storms last.

·      We can control our response in the storm!!!!

Storms cause us to move off-course – Storms can interrupt, delay, or completely shift our day, week, or life. Storms look bigger than our God. 

 Storms cause us to see what’s important – The storm of disease causes us to see that without health, we can’t do much. The crew began throwing stuff overboard when the Apostle Paul was in a storm. Storms may help us decide what’s most important. 

Storms cause us to desire to quit – Storms can be exasperating and steal our faith to go forward.  

Storms help us build resiliency. 

Become like a Palm Tree 

·      Palm Trees are designed for storms, and so are we. 

·      The strength of the Palm Tree is from the roots. 

·      Are you rooted in God with the strength to bend in the storm?

·      We must learn to be flexible, durable, and bendable. 

Blessed are the flexible, for they shall bend and not break.

There is an absolute insufficiency in self when following Jesus!

 
God gives a Holy insufficiency to the devoted follower. 

Remember: it is our weakness that reveals Christ's strength.   

 
Be AWARE of the difference between the insufficiency of GOD and the INSECURITY of your flesh!!

In fact, you will never make a God impression on others until you stop thinking about what sort of SELF -impression you’re making.

 -Welcome vulnerability

 Authentic connection to God comes through weakness and not fleshly strength.

See Philippians 3:3-11

Here are the hacks against self-confidence

1.     Establish your priorities

• What do I want?  Temporary or real?  The Temporary is feeling confident in the flesh, what you know, or in your reputation!

2.     Focus within, not without.  

•  Awkward insufficiency is better than outer confidence.  

3.     Beware of sliding over into inferiority:

• The opposite of inferiority is worth, not superiority.

-Stewards ask different questions than owners. 

-Our motion to promotion is biblical stewardship.

· Jesus' yoke was easy, and the burden was light

·      God calls us to rest, be still, cast out cares, abide, remain, seek, thirst, hunger 

·      We don't lose anything by slowing down. Instead, we gain perspective and clarity.

·      Simplify your life by refusing to do more and monitoring your pace.

·      We have heard it for years — less is more. What could you do less of that would lead to more?

·      Are you taking time to hear God, seek God, and spend time with God?
