    Recorded just a few days before what looks like the probable ending of the federal government shutdown, Congressman Fields discusses his views on the shutdown, SNAP benefits, extension of the Affordable Care Act subsidies, and the passage of a “clean” continuing resolution to finance the government for an additional seven weeks—giving negotiators time to work out the funding bills necessary to keep the government open on a permanent basis.

    Cleo Fields also talks about Louisiana’s redistricting case now under consideration by the United States Supreme Court; his thoughts on how that might come out; and his belief in how the Supreme Court justices might rule.

    Cable is a farmer from Union Parish who launched his campaign over the recent Labor Day weekend. He’s proud to share that he already has 150 volunteers assisting his campaign.

    A new closed primary system will be in effect for this election next year. Currently, he is the only Democrat running. As such, he could eventually be going up against Speaker of the House Mike Johnson from Bossier Parish.

    In this episode of The App, Cable discusses that possibility, his farming background, and the passion he has for making fresh food available to everyone. Food policy is an important element of his platform.
