    Margaret Graham, is the artist behind Centering Pendants, a line of handmade, touchable jewelry designed to help people pause, breathe, and reCenter themselves throughout the day. After leaving her career in education in 2016, she followed a winding path through yoga, mindfulness, and jewelry that ultimately led her to create these pendants as a personal tool to stay grounded. They’ve since grown into a mission to help others connect with their inner calm, especially women navigating big life transitions.

    She is also host a podcast called The Art of Centering, where she explores the intersections of mindfulness, art, spirituality, and mental health


    Margaret Graham, along with her husband Fred and step-daughter Austin, resides in Anderson, South Carolina where she runs her art business from the comfort of her home studio. When she isn't busy creating, Margaret enjoys outdoor activities like hiking, paddleboarding, and practicing yoga.


    Margaret's passion for art developed at a young age. Her childhood home was adorned with stunning linear drawings by M.C. Escher and organic paintings by Georgia O'Keeffe, which greatly influenced her artistic eye. Additionally, receiving handmade gifts from her aunts and grandma during the holiday season and watching her older sister draw only fueled her desire to create.

    Her art journey officially began after completing four years of art classes in high school, confirming that art was the only path for her. Margaret received a BA degree in Art, with a concentration in ceramics, from UNC Asheville in 2002. It was during this time that she also discovered her passion for yoga and meditation. In 2006, she taught herself how to make jewelry, and in 2009, she took a metalsmithing class. For ten years, she sold her jewelry under the name Gritgoods both online and in galleries, and at various festivals in the Southeast. However, it was her background in ceramics that proved most useful in creating Centering Pendants.

    Today's guest is Dan Metcalfe. Over the years, he has performed live for over five million people, including lead roles in Andrew Lloyd Webber productions around the world.

    His passion for helping others led him to become a Head Coach with the US Olympic Development Program and a Nike Youth Coach of the Year, and he has personally trained more than 70,000 individuals of all abilities and ages.

    A defining moment for him was having been paralyzed on stage, during a lead performance, and then fighting his way back from partial brain death to full recovery in 2018.

    That experience inspired him to create programs like 60uP, now rebranded as Total Balance Company, which changed the way we train balance and mobility for seniors and athletes.

    His work has had documented success with conditions from Parkinson’s and stroke to TBI and MS, addressing the biggest risk: falls are the number one cause of accidental death in seniors.

    In this episode, we sit down with Susan Shafer, a remarkable woman who transformed the profound pain of losing her son into a journey of healing and purpose. Through the devastation of her loss, Susan found strength and resilience, channeling her grief to help others.

    Susan Shafer, an LMSW (Licensed Master of Social Work) and Certified Grief Educator, retired from the non-profit world a month after her son died unexpectedly in 2016. She’d planned for her retirement, but not for the death of her only child. She finally returned to life after several years of bereavement. Then the question arose, how can I contribute at this stage and age? In 2022, she studied with world-renowned grief specialist, David Kessler (grief.com) and obtained a Certification as a Grief Educator. Out of her commitment to ongoing learning, and her latest adventure into Grief Work, she created the Luminous Legacy Project out of her stand that all people speak freely and safely, and that grief is not a disease, it’s the heart’s loss and must be witnessed. She provides a safe space for people be heard and valued for their experiences with grief and loss, and to inspire us all to let the light come back into our lives, so we may keep creating, for the ones we lost, and for our own Legacy and Renewal.
