  • A woman left the park because of me, and I started researching why.

One morning I drove to a park so I could run the tall stairs that led down the cliffs of Lake Michigan. When I pulled into the park, there was a woman arriving at the same time, walking her dog. When she saw me, she left. I sensed it was because she didn't feel safe.

We snuck into the coliseum at the county fair to see an "oldies" band called Three Dog Night. As a group of teenagers, we found a corner of the second deck where we let loose our ridiculous dance moves until a security guard approached us. His request was not what we expected. We did what he suggested and within moments the entire coliseum was on its feet dancing. And that wasn't even the best part.

I was in the front yard of a friend's house watching my daughters play with some neighborhood friends. Suddenly I heard teenagers yelling a couple houses away. What happened next was both scary and inspiring.
