Can organized bartering systems help build rural communities?

This episode is all about the food that other people prepare for us and what the rural food services industry can expect in what many are calling the new normal.

Compared to the economic crash of 2008, the effects COVID has wreaked on the restaurant industry can be considered nothing less than catastrophic. 

And while the effects of the pandemic have been hard across the board, the small town food service industry has faced its own unique set of challenges.

Instead of discussing rural living per se, I’m going to talk about a marketing element that could do A LOT to help you build a rural business.

That element is email marketing.

In this episode, I’m going to cover how one municipality seized on the pandemic to grow its population and bolster its economy.

Once the pandemic took over the global economy and the face of day-to-day work changed, The city of Tucson wanted in on the pool of talent that was looking to seize on the pandemic to migrate.

The goal was to launch the project with 10 spots available to give the initial a ‘test flight’ - to see if it had any potential.

In a few cases, you may have no choice but to start a business when leaving the city as many rural communities lack the job opportunities that allow for professionals to continue working in their careers.

In this episode, I’m going to run through some of the pros and cons to starting a business in a small town to help you make an informed decision on whether or not small town entrepreneurship is for you.
