  • Episode 66: The B’well Mindset: An Interview with Jake Jackson-Wolf
    Feb 19 2025

Welcome to Pints & Pelvic Floors: The Podcast. In Episode 66 I had a lovely chat with Jake Jackson-Wolf of B’Well Counseling Services to talk all about how he got started with B’Well and how it has grown into the incredible therapy clinic it is today.

Jake & I immediately hit it off when we first met in Fall 2024. What started as a lunch meeting turned into a four hour conversation and an incredible new connection between our practices. During that discussion over business models and treatment approaches I realized that Jake (& Katie) have carefully curated an amazing team of practitioners that have a wide range of specialities making it tough not to find someone who is a great fit for your needs.

Hopefully with this podcast episode you will get a glimpse into what I saw and hear the passion with which Jake drives his team and provides a safe space for all of B’Well’s clients. Since recording this podcast episode I have had the opportunity to connect with more of B’Well’s providers and they are all just as awesome to meet.

Head over to B’Well Counseling Services to check out their line up of providers, read through the bios, and when you’ve found the provider (or two) who feel like the best fit be sure to send them a message to discuss starting your care!

Also be sure to check out What’s a Dad to Do? a therapy group for fathers! They meet virtually on Mondays from 4-5pm.

  • Episode 65: When to See a Pelvic Therapist During Pregnancy: Part 2
    Feb 12 2025

Welcome to Pints & Pelvic Floors: The Podcast. In Episode 65 I continued our two part series on when & why you should see a pelvic floor therapist during your pregnancy - this time for reactive care.

When a patient comes into pelvic floor therapy reactively (i.e. as a result of pain or symptoms) we have plenty of things to assess & treat to keep them as comfortable and mobile as possible during pregnancy.

Common symptoms or areas we treat during pregnancy:

    • Pubic symphysis pain and sacroiliac (SI) joint pain
    • Pelvic floor tightness and pain
    • Pelvic floor weakness including heaviness sensations and urinary leakage due to stress or urge
    • Low back, hips, abdominal weakness
    • Breathing
    • Upper back discomfort from changes at the chest during pregnancy
    • Any other issues head to toe that may pop up

If you didn’t get to pelvic therapy before delivery and are just now finding us, don’t worry! You are still welcome here!! If you have not delivered yet or aren’t even to the phase of trying to conceive but these methods intrigue you, give us a call!

  • Episode 64: When to See a Pelvic Therapist During Pregnancy: Part 1
    Feb 4 2025

Welcome to Pints & Pelvic Floors: The Podcast. In Episode 64 I review when & why you should see a pelvic floor therapist during your pregnancy for proactive care. Stay tuned for Part 2 where we review how pelvic floor therapy can help with reactive care.

When a patient comes into pelvic floor therapy proactively (i.e. without any symptoms) we have plenty of things to assess & teach to set them up for success.

    • The current state of the pelvic floor - Is it tight? Weak? Coordinated? Does it need some help?
    • Navigating continued exercise and movement throughout pregnancy and how to modify when things become too difficult or aren’t feeling as easy as baby grows.
    • Labor & delivery prep for helping to prevent stalls and know ways to move during delivery with or without medication.
    • Perineal massage to help reduce tearing during pregnancy.
    • The knowledge of what was going on in the body before delivery as compared to after delivery to minimize the common question we hear of “was it like this before my delivery?”
    • And a feeling of coming back home to share your birth story in a familiar and welcoming space.

If you didn’t get to pelvic therapy before delivery and are just now finding us, don’t worry! You are still welcome here!! If you have not delivered yet or aren’t even to the phase of trying to conceive but these methods intrigue you, give us a call!

  • Episode 63: Should I Still Come to Pelvic Therapy if I Did Not Do My Exercises?
    Jan 28 2025

Welcome to Pints & Pelvic Floors: The Podcast. In Episode 63 I get honest about how “compliant” I have been in my own PT as well as why you should still go to your appointment even if you haven’t done your exercises!

It is not uncommon for us to hear a patient wants to cancel their appointment because they haven’t done their exercises. But this is exactly why you SHOULD come in! There are a few reasons we often hear as to why patients don’t do their exercises:

    • They didn’t have the right equipment
    • They didn’t have enough bandwidth
    • They didn’t understand the WHY

In that next appointment it is our job as therapists to either make sure you get the right equipment or we adapt the exercises to the equipment you have; streamline the exercises to meet you where you are and fit within your current available bandwidth; and explain the ‘why’ so that you understand how important the exercises are and how they will help your symptom resolution.

But this takes honesty from you! You need to be real with your therapist about why you haven’t done your exercises so we can help figure out a solution that fits your needs. So next time you try to use the excuse “once X is over things will slow down” remember you are living a meme, be honest with yourself (and your provider), and let’s figure out a routine that works for you!!
