On this day one of our spring rituals takes place: changing of the clocks, setting them one hour ahead so that we lose an hour of sleep. Soon we will celebrate the spring equinox, and many religious celebrations take place in the spring. The ritual of life has special days all year round helping us find gratitude in our hearts.

There are a lot of sights in nature that look scary at first, like icicles hanging off the eaves. They look like monster fangs ready to take a bite out of the house. There are many sights that can play tricks on our eyes and minds. Life can be scary in many ways. Paying attention is a good guide.

Our maple trees are being tapped this year, and I always love to watch the process. The term “sappy” relates to the emotions we experience in life when they flow through us like the sap flows in the trees in the spring. If we are aware of our emotions, we can let them flow through our hearts for positive outcomes.

It is easy to get into a regular routine. When something threatens to interrupt it, we resist the change. Over time I am beginning to learn to pause my resistance and really consider the best for the greater good.

I am always watching for signs, and when I saw the frozen heart in the brook with a layer of leaves on its icy bottom, I realized that it was another sign of coming spring weather. We also have signs that guide us through all the seasons of life. We just need to keep watch for them.

The sun is getting higher in the sky every day, warming the air and the icicles on the edge of the roof which are dripping. The weather could have ups and downs for the next month and a half, but the spring drip has begun, and it is time to let the positive feelings in our hearts flow with gratitude and love.

March 1 is the first day of meteorological spring. It is a great time to enjoy the last few weeks of the winter season with the increasing daylight and warming temperatures. It is also a great time to focus on the season ahead, starting to take actions on winter dreams. Those that are created in your heart with love are the best.

It seems as though I have had a lot to keep track of lately. I am watching squirrel tracks leading to the old maple tree where, when the sap is running, they chew on the limbs to sip the sweet liquid. AND this is podcast #6700, the sun is setting at 5:30, and it is the last day of a cold February. I think it is good to keep track of positive progress along our Soul’s journey.
