  • Coming off Anti Depressant meds slowly with Sharon Andrews
    Apr 28 2024

Sharon is a full time academic, part time comedian, terrible cricket player and a fan of big Barossa reds. This all means, she likes thinking, tinkering and drinking. What she doesn’t like is writing bios.

Our interview is based around the 23 years it took Sharon to get off Anti depressants. She tried a few times to do it more hastily (over 3 months), which ended up being unsuccessful and meant she needed to get back on them again as the effects of the withdrawals were causing all sorts of issues for her.

A good insight into the importance of giving yourself time to wean, taper, titrate off these powerful meds that interfere so heavily with the way a person filters their emotions.

  • Surviving Military Sexual Trauma and addiction with Kimberly Clarke
    Feb 23 2024

In this episode I talk with the inspirational Kimberly Clark, a Navy veteran who used her biggest obstacles to find opportunities for empowerment and recovery. Kimberly talks about her horrific childhood and military sexual trauma experiences, her battles with addiction, and her road to recovery that made her an inspiration to those going through similar difficulties.

Because of her dedication to her own recovery, Kimberly has learned about the therapeutic benefits of Brazilian jiu-jitsu and the job of a peer support specialist, where she uses her personal experiences to help other veterans get well. Her writing and speaking engagements as a motivational speaker and author highlight her message of resiliency and the potential to overcome adversity.

Kimberly provides insights about the value of therapy—especially EMDR—as well as the ability of regularity and discipline to help people stay focused and move forward in their healing process throughout the entire episode. Her story is not just one of overcoming but also of using her past as a foundation to build a future where she continues to inspire and support others through her advocacy, speaking engagements, and written works.

  • Dale Allen-Rowse talking about holistically managing Dystonia
    Aug 8 2023

Dale Allen-Rowse and I unpack parts of his journey living with generalised Dystonia. We get to know Dale and really get an understanding of what Dystonia is, which is essentially part of the Tourette's family.

Below is a little excerpt from Dale:

"Do you know what it's like to be a teen and have to run for your life to avoid being put into Conversion Therapy? I do. Do you know what it's like to show up at your baptist minister father's funeral and be told that the reason he's dead is because of you? I do. Do you know what its like to have your mother tell you that, had she known you'd be the result of having children that she wouldn't have bothered? I do. -WHY?- Because I was raised in a religious home, not a spiritual one. And for this abuse... I am blessed. Truly. However it wasn't until I was really ready to unpack all of that 'stuff' that was still living within me, that I found its gifts. My books are spiritual fiction that talk about personal evolution and how what we've been given in life ISN'T a mistake. So much so that I'd say my greatest asset is my trauma, and while I've had to learn how to manage my PTSD and PTSD induced neurological movement disorder (generalized dystonia) I wouldn't change it for the world because its what has lead me to channeling books and shamanism and tons of other weird shit that I love and that makes sense to me - but it's there, in the chasing of your weird that we discover a crack in the expected and see God."
