Eliotte Friedman reported on his 32 Thoughts podcast that William Karlsson is not available for a trade. This after other reports circulated that Karlsson was twice in trade talks for Mitch Marner. At the trade deadline this season it was reported that Karlsson's name was out there in a possible trade to Carolina. According to the Athletic's James Mirtle, the Golden Knights were willing to shed $10-million n cap space in a three-way deal at the trade deadline. The money would have been in salaries for two of three players - Ivan Barbeshev, Tomas Hertl and William Karlsson. The deal would have landed Mitch Marner in Las Vegas. Mikko Rantanen would have been sent to Toronto and two VGK players would be headed to Carolina. Marner eventually decided to deny the trade by using his no-trade clause.
