VGK will miss six players until after the Olympic break according to GM Kelly McCrimmon. Four players have been called up to replace them, but VGK is going to need role players who also can get into the scoring column. Missing are Bret Howden, Colton Sissons, Beandon Saad, Carter Hart, Brayden McNabb and William Karlsson, who has been out since November. VGK is also awaiting the arrival of Rasmus Andersson from Canada, as he awaits immigration papers, after being acquired this past week. VGK had its win streak snapped at seven games after going 1 for 7 on the power play against a struggling Flyers team, which came into the game with a six-game losing streak. The Flyers had two breakaway goals by Travis Konecny off turnovers by Tomas Hertl and Jack Eichel. VGK's lone goal came on Hertl's 20th goal of the season. Big trade for VGK - dealpoints: The Flames retain 50% of Andersson's contract. Zach Whitecloud is traded to Calgary, VGK gives up the 2027 first round draft pick, a conditional 2nd round pick. And, VGK gives up the rights to Abram Weibe. The trade also reunites Rasmussen with former Flames defenseman Noah Hanifin.
