Do you often wonder why you find it so hard to say 'no' to people?

  • Maybe you struggle to make time for yourself because you can't switch off — you feel like you should always be doing something.
  • Perhaps you've always felt too sensitive, too dramatic, too needy, too different... 'too much' — and yet never quite enough.
  • Maybe you've been self-sacrificing, suppressing, and masking for so long that it doesn't even feel like a mask anymore — you can’t remember who you really are beneath it.
  • Or you're a therapist or a woman with her own business, someone who cares deeply about what you do — but ‘good girl’ conditioning and spiralling overthinking hold you back from marketing yourself, because being seen doesn’t feel safe.

I'm Charlotte, an experienced psychotherapist, speaker and coach and mentor for women business owners who care deeply about what they do but struggle with overthinking and showing up without the cringe.

I'm so passionate about what I do because for decades, I lived as an anxious people-pleaser—constantly trying to keep others happy so I’d be accepted, always feeling like I was 'too much.'

Until one day, I realised I’d lost myself completely. Something had to change.

When it did, it brought a level of freedom I’d never felt before.

Getting to the root cause helped me let go of the need to please—and finally connect with the real me I’d been suppressing for so long.

With that came a new sense of self-trust, self-belief, and authentic confidence.

And I want you to know: you can find that too.

In the podcast I explore all things people-pleasing, trauma and good-girl conditioning; why you people-please, what the signs are, and the impact it can have on all aspects of your life.

I'll share personal and professional insights and you'll discover tips and strategies to help you stop people-pleasing and break free from what's holding you back, so you can move forward as your authentic self with confidence - in life and in business.

  • Why Do I Feel So Guilty for Saying No? (And What It Really Means) | Ep 50
    Sep 30 2025

If you’re a people-pleaser then chances are that on the rare occasion you do say “no” to someone, cancel plans, or set a boundary — you find yourself feeling guilty.

In this episode I talk about how guilt doesn’t always mean you’ve done something wrong. Often, it shows up because you’ve broken an internalised rule you’ve been carrying for years — like “I must keep everyone happy” or “Putting myself first is selfish.”

    This episode includes:

Why guilt feels so intense when you say no or prioritise yourself

How to reframe guilt so you can see it as a sign of growth, not wrongdoing

A guided reflection exercise to help you uncover the root of your guilt and begin reframing it

If this episode helps you, please share it with someone who needs to hear it - and stay tuned for the next episode, where we’ll explore practical strategies to rewrite those old rules for good.

  • As An Anxious People-Pleaser I Used To Think I Wasn’t Confident Enough — But It Was Never About Confidence | Ep 49
    Sep 23 2025

For years, I told myself the reason I couldn’t speak up, share my thoughts, or truly let myself be seen was because I wasn’t confident enough.

Maybe you’ve told yourself the same thing — that you just need to “push through,” “fake it till you make it,” or somehow be braver.

But recently, something happened that made me realise the problem isn’t about confidence at all.

In this episode, I share a deeply personal story about:

    • The two inner voices we all carry — the one that tells us to stay quiet, and the one that dares us to speak up.
    • The powerful experience that reconnected me to my purpose and voice
    • Why confidence isn’t the real issue — and what you truly need instead.

If you’ve ever felt like you’re hiding parts of yourself or holding back from sharing your gifts, this episode will help you understand why — and give you hope that it’s possible to show up authentically, without pushing or pretending.

  • Why Shame Fuels People-Pleasing - and How to Break the Cycle | Ep 48
    Sep 9 2025

Do you often put everyone else’s needs before your own - and feel bad if you don’t?

In this episode, I’m joined by Kay from Place to Talk Therapy Practice to explore the deep connection between shame and people-pleasing. We talk about how shame begins, how it shows up in everyday life, and why it can feel so hard to break free from old patterns.

Kay shares her personal experience of living with shame, from body image struggles to those early messages we pick up about who we need to be in order to be accepted and loved. Kay explains:

    • The difference between guilt and shame - and why shame runs so deep.
    • How childhood experiences and cultural expectations shape people-pleasing.
    • Gentle ways to notice and challenge shame-fuelled thoughts.
    • What self-honour is and why it is the antidote to shame.
    • First steps you can take to set boundaries and put your needs back on the table.
