Brad eases back after his half marathon win last week. Brady needs another gear as a parent helper at his son’s Kindergarten. Haftu Strintzos pops onto the show for a brief chat about taking out the 10000m Oceania Athletic Championships in Fiji, as well as his time racing and studying in the NCAA with Villanova University and his long-term relationship with coach Craig Mottram. Haftu Strintzos won the Oceania Athletic Champs 10000m final in 29:17.97 with Andre Waring second and Joshua Phillips third. Dave McNeill won the 5000m in 14:02.23, with Haftu second in 14:08.03. Jenny Blundell won the 5000m in 15:26.29, with Holly Campbell second in 15:31.88 and Maudie Skyring third in 15:49.39. Amy Cashin won the 3000m Steeplechase in 9:41.54, Cara Feain-Ryan and Stella Radford making it a clean sweep on the podium. It was a similar story on the men’s side, with Matt Clarke taking the 3000m Steeplechase title in 8:31.00, with Ben Buckingham and Ed Trippas taking the respective medals. Carley Thomas won silver in the women’s 800m, while Peyton Craig edged out Luke Boyes in the Men’s 800m with Jack Lunn taking the bronze. Oceania Athletics Championships Results Ky Robinson placed third in the NCAA Outdoor Championships 5000m final, running 13:27.79 behind winner Nico Young and Parker Wolfe. Adam Spencer scored silver in the Men’s Mile 4:01.92 behind winner Luke Houser, while Hayley Kitching ran 2:02.16 in the 800m Final. NCAA Track and Field Championships Results European Championships featured Jakob Ingebrigsten cruising to victory in the 5000m. Yemen Crippa for Italy won the Half Marathon, while Karoline Grøvdal of Norway won gold in the half marathon as well as silver in the 5000m. Official Results Sifan Hassan won the 5000m Portland Track Festival in 14:43.85 then doubled in the 1500m, while Lauren Ryan ran 14:59.99 and Nat Rule a 15:03.48. Sam McEntee ran the 5000m in 13:29.21. Results via World Athletics Jake Wightman held off the field to win the 1500m at the NYC Grand Prix in 3:34.01 with Jesse Hunt coming in 3:36.17. Peter Bol ran 1:48.41 in the 800m. Results Rhonex Kipruto of Kenya has been banned for six years for doping violations, found within anomalies of biological passport. The findings strip him of his results dating as far back as 2018, which include his 10k Road World Record set in Valencia 2020.     Pat Carroll joins Brad to look at his career in running, making the transition from karate into running, recounting his inspiration from Rob De Castella, what training and nutrition for marathons involved back in his prime and highlights balancing his apprenticeship in cabinet making with winning the Gold Coast marathon.

    Pat talks about who he likes in the current crop of distance running and his opinions on what they need to succeed to be top marathoners before setting most of his personal bests in domestic racing and then recounts his best marathons at Beppu-Oita and Lake Biwa in Japan only to deal with the absurd politics involved with organisers, Athletics Australia and the Olympic selection process.

    The conversation wraps up with the transition from athlete to coaching and getting involved with charity fundraising and emceeing events to engage with the wider running community.

    Brad makes a triumphant return to racing taking the win at the Wollongong Half Marathon. Julian chases vert and gets out running with the pram. Brady goes through his paces before a hit out at the Lakeside 10.

    Georgia Griffith set a new 3000m National Record of 8:24.20 in her second ever race in the distance, taking the win at the Bislett Games Oslo Diamond League over Likina Amebaw of Ethiopia. Jess Hull placed third in 8:25.82, Rose Davies ran a personal best of 8:35.57, while Lauren Ryan ran 8:42.63. Catriona Bisset closed strongly to claim third place in the 800m with 1:59.29. Oli Hoare solidified his form in the 1500m with a 3:31.08 while Stewy McSweyn 3:38.22 after taking a midrace stumble. Jakob Ingebrigsten took out the race in front of the home crowd in a World Leading 3:29.74, diving across the line in a close finish against the returning Timothy Cheruiyot. Hagos Gebrhiwet broke the Ethiopian National Record in the 5000m in 12:36.73 for the second fastest of all time, ahead of countryman Yomif Kejelcha and with a total of 6 new national records set in that race.     Georgia Griffith kept the momentum going with a 3:59.17 to place third in the Stockholm Diamond League 1500m with Laura Muir taking the win in 3:57.99.     Launceston Running Festival 10k Isaac Heyne 28:34 just seeing off runner-up Ed Marks at the line, with Seth o’Donnell in third spot. Gen Gregson won the 10km race in 32:03 ahead of Eloise Wellings and Ella Higgins. Brett Robinson won the Half Marathon in 1:03:12 ahead of Liam Adams and Riley Cocks.     Brad checks in from his new house and gets ready to race again. Julian scouts the surf and hits the hills. Brady puts doubles back into the programme then crosses paths with a big pack off to the pub.

    Jess Hull set a new 1500m National and Oceania Record of 3:55.97 in the Pre Classic Diamond League in Eugene Oregon, just behind winner Diribe Welteji and holding off Elle St. Pierre. Linden Hall who was also in the race ran 4:01.97 Catriona Bisset ran an Olympic Qualifier of 1:58.44 in the 800m, while Keely Hodgkinson won a world leading 1:55.78 over Mary Moraa. Josh Kerr took out the Bowerman Mile in 3:45.34, once again beating Jakob Ingebrigsten. Oli Hoare ran an Olympic Qualifier time of 3:49.11, while Cameron Myers posted a personal best 3:50.15 for an U/20 National Record.

    Lauren Ryan ran 15:03.63 in the 5000m with Tsigie Gebreselama winning in a world leading 14:18.76. The event also hosted the Kenyan 10000m Trials that saw Beatrice Chebet run 28:54.14 for a new 10000m World Record, while Daniel Meteiko ran 26:50.81 to take the win. Pre Classic Results

    Andrew Dey and Imy Briscoe were the winners of the Runaway Noosa Marathon, while Ella McCartney and Alex Harvey each won the Half Marathon. Results
