  • #170 Is the Weight-Loss Jab Enough? Understanding the Emotional Side of Eating
    Nov 7 2025
In this week’s episode, I’m joined by emotional and disordered eating specialist Lisa Unger for an honest look at the rise of weight loss injections and the impact they can have. We explore how weight, food and wellbeing are deeply tied to our emotions, self esteem and body image.

Lisa explains why medications like Ozempic can help some people, especially those with Type 2 diabetes, yet rarely create lasting change unless we also address the underlying drivers of our eating behaviours.

We touch on the emotional layers that so often sit beneath overeating, why focusing only on food keeps us stuck, and how nurturing body esteem, self trust and emotional resilience leads to sustainable, long term change.

  • #169 Think It’s Menopause? It Might Be Your Thyroid...
    Oct 17 2025
When we start experiencing common symptoms like fatigue, weight gain, brain fog, anxiety, hair loss or temperature changes, and we're in our 40's or 50's, chances are we're going to be told it's menopause and offered HRT.

But these symptoms are identical to those associated with low thyroid hormones. This could mean that it might not be your sex hormones that are out of balance, it might be your thyroid. And you could be on the wrong treatment.

In this episode, I break down the key overlaps, explain why thyroid problems are often underdiagnosed, and show you how the right testing can reveal the real cause of your symptoms and get you on the right treatment and/or protocol to relieve your symptoms.

  • #168 Bolder Not Older: Reinventing Style, Confidence & Visibility After 50 - With Nicky Hambleton Jones
    Sep 4 2025
In this inspiring and honest conversation, I’m joined by the fabulous Nicky Hambleton-Jones. She's a personal stylist, TV presenter, author, and the iconic face behind 10 Years Younger and Drop-A-Decade.

We go far beyond fashion to talk about confidence, ageing, and how personal style can become a powerful tool for reinvention, especially after 50. Nicky opens up about the highs and lows of her career, including the moment she was dropped from her hit show and how, in her own words, “clothes saved me.”

We also dive into her new book, Bolder Not Older, a bold call-to-arms for women to reclaim their visibility, voice, and vibrancy - no matter their age. We discuss the “invisibility issue” so many women feel in midlife, how image isn’t just about appearance but about confidence and opportunity, and why there are no rules after 50.

Plus, Nicky shares her go-to style tips for colour confidence and the three things every woman over 50 should be doing to look and feel amazing.

Whether you’re navigating your 40s, 50s, or beyond, get inspired to feel more seen, more stylish, and more confident than ever.

  • #164 Breaking Waves: How Wild Swimming & Storytelling Became Tools for Healing
    Apr 11 2025
We’re all aware of the physical benefits of being in and around water, especially cold water (I write about it in my book Life After Menopause).

But in today’s interview, we explore its profound impact on emotional wellbeing too.

After experiencing immense pain and deep grief, Emma Simpson found herself feeling lost, disconnected, and adrift. Drawn instinctively to the water, she discovered more than just a cold embrace—she found strength, hope, and a powerful sense of connection. Through wild swimming, she not only reclaimed her own sense of purpose but also became part of a remarkable sisterhood of women, each with their own inspiring story to share.

She went on to write her first book, Breaking Waves —a heartfelt celebration of community, renewal, and the transformative power of reclaiming your own life story through writing.
