    U najnovijoj epizodi podkasta „Na kafi sa“ Srpskog siti kluba ugostili smo Đorđa Trikoša, stručnjaka za strateške komunikacije. Sa Đorđem smo se osvrnuli na trenutnu situaciju u Srbiji uključujući – koje su najslabije karike na madijskom polju i da li ima objektivnosti pri izveštavanju o svemu što se u Srbiji trenutno dešava.   • Coffee With Professor Dejan Đokić: A Historian and an Author

Dejan has been teaching comparative European History at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth since 2003. Before that Dejan was a professor of modern and contemporary history at Goldsmiths, University of London where, in 2009, he founded and was the first director of the Centre for the Study of the Balkans. We discussed Dejan’s book “A Concise History of Serbia” – the first single volume history of Serbia and Serbs from the Middle Ages to the present day in any language. We explored what and where is Serbia, how has the perception of the country changed, in particular in the last 50 or so years, and whether it is possible to distinguish the history of Serbia from the history of the Serbian people.We further reflected on the student protests in Serbia, the inaction of the EU when it comes to recent events in Serbia, the role and impact of the Serbian Orthodox Church, and what is the future for Serbia.     During our latest “Coffee with” episode, Serbian City Club had the pleasure of hosting Dragana Perišić, a London-based fashion designer, as part of the 17th annual Serbian Month in the UK.

    Dragana’s career in the UK started by being scouted as a fashion model and ended up with her creating amazing designs and collections that at times sold in bulk. Dragana now owns a very cute shop in East London, and we discussed what that journey looked like - from having a dream about being a designer, trying to get an education with almost no knowledge of English, to dressing stars.

    During her career, both the UK and Serbia went through some significant changes, and we discussed how that impacted the fashion industry, including her business, and how challenging it is to build and maintain a brand. We also reflected on how life circumstances and events can impact choices and the importance of following your passions and dreams, and where they can lead you if you allow them.

    During our latest “Coffee with” episode, Serbian City Club had the pleasure of hosting Jovana Gospavić, Emmy-nominated costume designer, as part of the17th annual Serbian Month in the UK.

    During the discussion we reflected on Jovana’s incredible journey which led her from starting studies in Serbia, to being twice nominated for Emmy for her work as a costume designer. We reflected on her work both in theatre and film, and discussed how she got to became the designer of British Fencing Association uniforms, and whether she ever gets starstruck.

    Jovana was reflective of how she overcame and continues to overcome challenges in the current unpredictability of the film and TV industry, and generous with advice to aspiring and emerging talent in the industry.

During the discussion we got to hear Maya’s interesting journey from Serbia via Cyprus to the UK and about her experiences of studying in both Serbia and the UK. The main reason for speaking to Maya was to put a spotlight on one of the most active and influential members of the Serbian community in the UK. Maya is one of those unsung heroes responsible for changing the perception of Serbia for the better, and for continuously highlighting our rich and vibrant cultural heritage. During the discussion we reflected on many events Maya organised that gave our community visibility and respectability, while discussing why Serbian community does not necessarily support those great efforts. We discussed whether Serbian institutions provide any support to artists who move abroad and further explored is there a successful collaboration between artists in Serbia and those abroad.     U najnovijoj epizodi podkasta „Na kafi sa“ Srpskog siti kluba ugostili smo Žarka Trebješanina, psihologa kako bi analizirali zašto je apatija sveprisutnija a nasilje u porastu, i u kom pravcu mi kao društvo idemo. Sagledali smo čemu služe zakoni ako se ne poštuju, kako masovni mediji i rijaliti programi utiču na sistem vrednosti, i gde se generiše nasilje koje se često adekvatno ne sankcioniše.

    Diskutovali smo o tome da li smo kao društvo izgubili mogućnost empatije pored brojnih tragedija u poslednjih par godina, zašto je sve manje društveno odgovornog ponašanja a sve veći broj vršnjačkog nasilja među mladima, i koja je važnost emocionalne inteligencije u tom kontekstu.

    Sa Žarkom smo dodatno razmotrili kakve posledice su krize i šokovi proteklih 30 godina ostavile kako na društvo tako i na pojedince, zašto je sve veći broj mladih ljudi koji se u Srbiji susreće sa depresijom i anksioznošću, i koliko je važna mentalna higijena.

    Go Fund Me donacija: ⁠⁠⁠https://shorturl.at/llSG5⁠⁠⁠Veliko hvala! ❤️ U najnovijoj epizodi podkasta „Na kafi sa“ Srpskog siti kluba ugostili smo novinarku Danicu Dašu Ilić kako bi analizirali trenutno stanje medija u Srbiji, problematične uređivačke politike pojedinih medijskih kuća, i sagledali uticaj medijske nepismenosti na pojedince i društvo. Diskutujući predsedničke izbore u SAD-u, Brexit u UK-u i aktuelne studentske proteste u Srbiji, osvrnuli smo se na manjak etike i integriteta u novinarstvu danas. Kao i zašto je ugled pojedinih medijskih kuća, kao što su BBC i B92 sve diskutabilniji. Sagledali smo važnost lokalnih medija, uzimajući u obzir njihovu ugroženost zbog pritiska sa raznih strana, kao i koliko je izazovno biti novinar danas kada se skoro pa potpuno izgubio zdrav i kritički pristup prema informacijama od značaja. Sa Dašom smo dodatno razmotrili uticaj digitalizacije na sve vidove komunikacije i zašto smo kao društvo izgubili mogućnost da razumemo stavove onih koji ne razmišljaju kao mi. Na kraju smo razmotrili ima li slobode medija, šta zapravo znači biti novinar, i koliko je teško uskladiti emocije kada se živi u inostranstvu.
