The Vietnam War was a difficult reality for an entire generation. For Don Eggspuehler his draft notice appeared on his graduation day from Ohio State University.

Don went on to become a pilot in the Marine Corps flying A6 jets. In Vietnam, A6 jets supported the ground troops, targeting enemy troops and missiles on the ground.

Don wrote home regularly sharing his loss of friends and fellow pilots, as well as the details of his Vietnam experience. Years later, while visiting his ailing mother, he discovered a box of letters. His letters. From Vietnam.

Don's book, Letters To Mom, is a compilation of letters and photos. It offers a first hand account of the war, on the ground and in the air. Join us for some good tales, and some difficult ones, from a war that shaped a generation.

Roxanne Howe Murphy's latest book, The Four Sacred Portals: Your Journey of Wholeness and Deep Kinship with Life, examines a transformative journey of self-discovery through the lens of the Enneagram and the concept of sacred portals.

The Enneagram, a symbol representing the nine personality types, serves as a powerful tool for understanding our unique paths in life. The sacred portals she describes are not just theoretical concepts; they are practical pathways to connect with our inner selves and the world around us. Each portal represents a unique aspect of our journey, from sacred holding to sacred engagement, guiding us toward a more authentic existence.

One of the most profound insights shared in this episode is the idea that presence is never automatic. It needs cultivation, particularly in a world that prioritizes external validation, rather than an inner trust in ourselves.

If you're seeking guidance on your own path of self-discovery or looking for ways to deepen your understanding of the Enneagram, this episode is a must-listen. Roxanne's wisdom and insights will inspire you to explore the sacred portals within yourself and embrace the journey of wholeness and interconnectedness with all of life.

The narrative around alcohol addiction often revolves around abstinence and traditional recovery programs. Katie Herzog took a different path.

    She drank herself sober.

Using the Sinclair Method, which uses naltrexone, a drug that blocks the euphoric effects of alcohol, Katie started down the path to sobriety. Over time, her cravings lessened and so did her drinking. Today she is sober.

Katie's drinking was both secretive and problematic. I was personally stunned by the extent of her drinking. And her will to change things.

Join us as we unpack the complexities of addiction, recovery, and the transformative power of understanding one's relationship with alcohol. Tune in to discover how a different approach can lead to a more hopeful and fulfilling life beyond addiction.

Imagine having your life dedicated to global adventure and exploration through the lens of the camera. Now imagine falling off a tall stone wall in Italy, badly fracturing your body. What do you do now?

For David DuChemin, it was years of rehab and pain. He pivoted his work towards more on-line courses and sales and he continued leading photographic tours. But eventually the pain was just too much and he decided to have his leg amputated.

David shares how the amputation has paradoxically made him feel more 'abled' than he ever was before. He now engages in activities he once thought impossible, from hiking to running through airports with camera gear in tow. His perspective on disability is refreshing; he believes that labels can limit our potential and that embracing challenges can lead to greater creativity and fulfillment.

My first interview with David can be found here. It focuses on his injury and recovery and lays the groundwork for this extraordinary conversation.

Come, be inspired, as David shares that "disability" is just a word, not his reality.

Have you ever felt unseen when you were growing up? That no one really listened or understood?

I suspect this feeling is nearly universal, but for some young people, facing poverty and family difficulties, the need to connect is keen.

Enter Carlamay. She started off in Nashville, pursuing a love of music. And from there to Calgary where oil and gas were booming. But something was missing. Until she went into law enforcement.

She worked in areas such as domestic violence, child abuse, and as a school resource officer, where she had the opportunity to connect with youth from diverse backgrounds. Carla's unique approach to policing was rooted in her understanding that every individual has a story, and it's essential to listen and engage with them on a human level.

Carlamay's book "Youth Truth" is deeply moving, as is her story. Come listen in.
