    In today's episode, we're talking about back-to-school hygiene. Countless kids miss months of school and sports seasons because of mono each year, which is brought on by Epstein-Barr virus, also known as the kissing virus.

    But it could just as easily be the drink sharing virus. Just one sip is enough to go from no strep to strep throat, which will be followed by a round of antibiotics and then increased susceptibility to a host of immune challenges and allergies because of the antibiotics.

  • Why Healthy Foods Aren't Helping You Lose Weight

    In today's episode, we're talking about why supposed "healthy" foods can prevent us from losing weight. For example, Siete tortillas or chips are not health-promoting foods.

    This doesn’t mean they are bad, but when we remove everything but the starch component, press it, heat it, sit at our desk and eat it, we can fully expect that the area around our hips and belly button are going to expand.

    Not to mention these gluten-free starches are essentially devoid of all manner of vitamins, minerals and polyphenols. If wheat berries are a challenge for your body, you will be best served using zucchini for noodles and getting really creative with your baked goods.

    Today is a great day to check your trades. Many times, in our efforts to get our food lined up in a fashion that promotes a greater level of health, we inadvertently trade toxicity for ultra processed foods.

    Let me start off by saying there is zero judgement here. While substituting corn syrup loaded yogurt for vanilla yogurt with 28 grams of sugar may not be the best choice, it's at least a sign that you are consciously considering what you are consuming. This is step one to massive health accumulation.

    In today's episode, we're talking about how food can be our friend.

    I can’t think of a time a person told me they couldn’t eat Happy Teriyaki or Dairy Queen, but almost on repeat I have people telling me they can’t eat sweet potatoes, fruit, or carrots, because they have too much sugar or carbs.

    By some psychological magic we have been duped into believing we need to watch out for the cholesterol in eggs, the sugar in fruit, the saturated fat in beef and lectins in seeds, because they are coming for our health. As soon as we think we have it figured out, we find out from the latest influencer that the chemicals broccoli makes to protect itself from predators can cause cancer (they don’t).

    Real food is our friend and greatest ally. It wants to be a reliable resource in building our vitality, protecting our cells, satisfying our palate and extending our lives.

I could not hold a 5:23 mile pace for 8 kilometers without consistent training to build up that kind of endurance and you are not going to sustain a radically different lifestyle through sheer willpower alone.

    When you employ the ideology of health accumulation, you build a foundation of habits and routines, that enable you to continue your health seeding journey, even when your feelings are saying, “I could really use a Dr. Pepper right now.”

    • The people who win with their health?
    • They are not the ones who do everything perfectly for 10 days every couple years.
    • They are the ones who consistently go for a walk at lunchtime.
    • They are the ones who prepare their food in advance.
    • They are the ones who say I am going to push my beer to the weekend for now, instead of every night.
