Excellent merger of nostalgia and optimism for the future

The interviews and research done for this book display the passion for this franchise, and Roger L. Jackson narrating the book sends the audiobook to the highest rating I can give it. None of the stories told in the book feel stale as can easily be the case for books in this sub-genre, and the book manages to make me feel excited about the upcoming 7th film which I initially wanted to boycott on principle of Spyglass being ran by terrible people. Cant recommend this book enough!

Red Right Hand

I was 7 when the first Scream came out so I did not get to see it in theatres unfortunately but that did not stop me from seeing it even at 7. I watched my first Horror movie at 5 with my aunt and that was Halloween. By 7 I had already become a horror fan. as I hit my teen years my love for horror never faded and I had all my favorites on VHS so I could re watch them over and over. I never got into the DVD phase so never really watched all the extras and even now as an adult I still have never done that for some reason but when I saw this book up for preorder I immediately did so. I feel like not ever seeing those special features the DVD's had to offer made this an amazing adventure and the bonus that Ghostface himself was the narrator made it perfect. once I started listening I could not stop and im as giddy as can be and so ready for Scream 7! Thankyou so much this was so worth the listen its like filled a void in my little horror heart. I've also had the wonderful experience of introducing all 3 of my kiddos to this and for sure my oldest is the biggest fan and I can not wait to re-listen to this book with her and watch her reactions to all the juicy things we never got to know while watching these movies over and over for years now! If your a fan of the franchise you need to set some time aside to either read this book or let Roger Jackson read it to you.

Shockingly refreshing

A true “scream” masterclass that gives every installment its fair due. It’s a deep, insightful, and refreshing take on the series we’ve grown with and love. Honoring cast and crew is handled with tact without sounding over congratulatory. The story is seamless. The narration by Roger L. Jackson is transcendent- the perfect choice. Ghostface lends himself to the overall telling, as well as Jackson’s ability to hit every beat exactly where it needs. I was wrongly hesitant for another collection of scream information- “clever, hip, and scary”. Ashley Cullins breathes life into this retrospective. It’s thorough, well written, thoughtful, and truly respects the source materials while bringing new information to the table without sounding repetitive. Every installment is covered in depth, not just the original, telling deep cut tales and including interviews, even taking time to honor Wes Craven and his life’s legacy (even beyond scream). A worthy installment in the Scream legacy’s collection of retrospectives, packed with details that will have you coming back for more. Giving those predecessors a run for their money. Whether “Scream” is “Your favorite movie” or not, this book will remind you of what you love about the genre and the people that make it. Cullins is the perfect author to pen this book, she should feel proud.

Petition to have Ghostface read all books

This book was really well written and very interesting! Great facts and quotes but also so much emotion! But having it be read to me by Ghostface himeself? Amazing!

Favorite

The Scream movies are my absolute favorite movies! I have watched them all many times, and 1-3 are my go-to comfort zone. This book was like watching my favorite movie (s) from the backside instead of the front I saw in the cinema and on my personal screens. I loved the details, research, and interviews, and most importantly, it was narrated by my favorite, Ghostface!!! Roger L. Jackson was the perfect person to read this fantastic book! I loved this so much, as soon as I submit this review, I will listen to this again from the beginning!
