Acerca de esta escucha

On location in Blairstown: The Making of Friday the 13th covers the creation, planning, and filming of the iconic 1980 film, Friday the 13th in a way that no other film has been documented before. Through the memories of the cast and crew, many speaking for the first (and last) time, as well as previously-undiscovered production information and materials, On location in Blairstown takes the listener "on location" and back in time to 1979 for the filming of Friday the 13th and behind the scenes for all of the adventures, conflicts, and dramas that went into the making of one of the most enduring and popular horror films in history.

Outstanding book! Exhaustively researched and chock full of all the details you could ever hope to learn about the making of ‘Friday the 13th’! The narration seemed slightly sluggish at first…I found it flowed best at 1.2 speed.

I want to go back to Blairstown!

While not as good as Taking Shape, this book was very informative about the original Friday the 13th. Hearing so much from everyone involved in the production was nice, and the author organized the information very well. Narrator was good, but not necessarily great. I recommend this for fans of 80's horror movies.

Pretty good listen

I loved the oral history of the Friday the 13th Franchise, but like the author and original producers seem to be I’m mostly in love with the original idea and production of the first film. The author did a wonderful job telling all the battle and triumphs behind the scenes. I wish more films could have their stories told with such precision as this author did. I loved hearing about the cast and crew and this book is really special.

It’s like I was on the set of filming the original Friday the 13th film…

This is a must have for any Friday the 13th or horror fan. Even if you're not, it's so enjoyable that you'll view the movie in a whole new light afterwards. Excellent in every way.

Good stories about the first movie. I did listen to it at 1.2x speed as it did as it seemed a little bit on the slow side listening.

I liked it a lot but a couple of the chapters were hard to get through.

I love the Friday the 13th movies, so I thought it would be interesting to check out the history on this franchise. I’m not taking anything away from this movie, but let’s face it, this movie wouldn’t even exist without Halloween. The main players that were involved making this were pretty much just grasping at straws making a bunch of knock off movies and trying to scrap together some profit from it. From ripping off the bad news bears to the animal house, they really didn’t have any shame, and then this knock off of Halloween had extremely good fortune and luck the way it turned out. Which again, I love this movie and the franchise, but it got a little annoying that in hindsight, the author was alluding that the talent alone made this what it was and taking all the credit like they actually knew what they were doing. No, they followed a pre-existing formula and did a Halloween knock off and got extremely lucky. They pay homage a little bit to this fact, but they just can’t help themselves when throwing up their hands in the air and saying oh that was just a coincidence. I’m not biased either way but facts are facts. Halloween will always be the trailblazer to the horror slasher genre, and Friday the 13th will always be the franchise that jumped on the bandwagon, going along for the ride, and cashing in as a result on Halloween’s success. Like the expression goes, sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good.
