One day an old friend of Mr. Zhang comes to visit the family after having spent years traveling in the mysterious hills of China’s Yunnan Province. He tells the Zhang family of a monkey’s paw that has magical powers to grant three wishes to the holder. Against his better judgement, he reluctantly gives the monkey paw to the Zhang family, along with a warning that the wishes come with a great price for trying to change ones fate.

Great Introductory Learning Book
This level of graded reader is hard to make interesting but the authors do a good job of making them somewhat funny and interesting despite their restrictions.
The stories are simple and easy to follow, with a lot of repeated structure to make sure you really understand what is going on, which is helpful when you’re learning.
The speaker is clear and at a comfortable pace for this level. My only minor complaint is that they pronounce 谁 as shuí instead of shéi, which is less common to my understanding.
