Resumen del Editor

“I’ll admit it. He makes my blood sing. But a man like me? I’m not supposed to be with other men.”

Oliver Suarez just wants the simple life. He’s finally free from prison, having been convicted for a crime he didn’t commit, and he could spend the rest of his life working hard in the sunshine for a little pay and the feeling of fresh air on his skin. When he’s given the chance to work on Dyer Ranch, he grabs the opportunity with both hands. And when he’s given the chance to be with Quinn Dyer, he’s forced to come to terms with a lifetime of holding himself back from love.

“I don’t make excuses for the ways that I enjoy myself. But maybe...with him...it can be more than a quick roll in the hay.”

Quinn might not have wanted to be a rancher, but he can’t deny that his family has poured blood, sweat, and tears into their land for six generations, and he’s not about to be the one to lose it. It feels like he’s fighting on all fronts - which is why Oliver is such a great distraction. But when real feelings grow out of a bit of fun, Quinn has to decide: he’s already taking a gamble with the ranch. Can he also take a gamble with his heart?

Welcome to Worthington, Texas, where the heat doesn't just rise in the summer - you'll feel it all year long in these stories of older men and their younger lovers. Every audiobook in the Worth It series can be listened to on its own, but with so many familiar characters to love, why stop with just one? This audiobook features a hardworking ranch family, the courage to be yourself, and one big idea that might just save the day.

Love in the middle of a crisis!

Wow! This book is proof that love can bloom anywhere and that there is nothing more important than protecting who you love, even if it means losing your land. It also helps that love came up with the perfect solution just in time.

LEGACY ISN’T SOMETHING TO TAKE LIGHTLY

Quinn Dyer is trying to save his family heritage, the ranch. He needs help in many ways. Oliver Suarez, just freed from prison, needs a job. Oliver was forced to be a closeted gay from early on in his childhood. Quinn’s mother is willing to die to keep the ranch in the family. This story leaves one to marvel at how the gay people survived and made it into the light when others pummeled them for being who they are and how legacy really is worth dying for. Quinn brings Oliver out of his shell and they find a HEA.

Once again, the narration is wonderfully done.

I enjoyed the listen

The narration was spot on, distinct character voices, soothing and well paced.

The story was okay. Not my favorite, but entertaining enough to listen to through the end.

Couldn’t put it down

This is the eighth book in the Worth It Series with well-developed characters. I was looking forward to Oliver and Quinn’s story and this did not disappoint. This story is about Oliver who just got out of prison for a wrongful convection and is just looking for a simple life; however, struggles with his sexuality. Quinn is a rancher who has never really given anyone the chance at a love in the past and is struggling to keep his ranch and family heritage alive. While these two men find solutions to their problems, they are there for each other. I love this series. Each book I have listen to I haven’t been able to put down until it finished. I love the dynamic the author brings to his story’s. The narration was well done.

Redemption, Love, and doing what's right

This is a story of redemption, love, and doing what's right.

Quinn & Oliver met after Oliver was released from prison for a crime he didn't commit. Oliver went to work on Quinn's ranch. They started a relationship of sorts.

Quinn's mother needed heart surgery but refused putting Quinn in a position of either selling some of the ranch land or go bankrupt. Oliver had a plan!

Read the book and you will enjoy the journey.

Best of Series_My first 5-STARS for all categories

OVERALL — 5 stars
WORTH DYING FOR can be read as a standalone from the other books of he series. And, for that reason, I recommend that you start with this one since (in my opinion) it is the best. (Better that you start with the best and then move on to the others than that you start elsewhere and decide to take a pass on the rest, which means you'd miss out on this one). Enjoyable.

PERFORMANCE — 5 stars
Nikola Muckajev has never been better (in this series) than he is with this book. I suspect the reason is that he got more into the characters this time around than in his previous WORTH IT readings. This one was, simply, more than a reading but a true performance. And, I must say, this was also true with his rendition of explicit scenes. Bravo! That's the way to do it! Very convincing. But (and perhaps I should take off half a star), as I noted in previous reviews in this series, Muckajev does still need to work on having a differentiation between the main character voices. Too similar to one another.

STORY — 5 stars
I really liked how we were introduced to the two main characters and how their relationship evolved. Along the way we got to see how they both got to where they are (specifically why they are the way they are). Oliver and Quinn are so different and so right for one another. I tried to guess the ending but didn't... and a very satisfying ending it was! Well-done, Peter Styles! I'm very picky about giving 5-stars. I am giving WORTH DYING FOR just that, but I do find myself hesitant on clicking "Submit Review" and yet I don't know why. So anyhow, keep up the good work!

***Review Edit*** So this morning I woke up thinking about this review I posted last night, and specifically my hesitation in submitting the review before I went to bed. And it occurred to me that what I was trying to say is that the story, although great, did not have an emotional kick that either caused tears to well, pulse to rise, breath to catch etc. And I wondered what might have done so. And one matter that, as I pondered the question, I think would have put it over the top would have been getting at the heart of Quinn's relationship with his Dad. Nothing much is said of that (perhaps because his father is not a part of his present life of the story). But what if, while Quinn was alone with his mother, he had dared to ask her: "Did Dad ever—"
"What is it honey?"
Quinn curses his stinging eyes and presses on: "I was always his problem child. I know that. But... did Dad ever love me?"

1 = Bad (Do Not Read) // 2 = Poor // 3 = Good (Average) // 4 = Great // 5 = Excellent (Must Read)

A Relationship Worth Exploring

When Oliver Suarez is released from prison, after being wrongly accused of murder, he goes to work on the Dyer ranch. On the ranch, he is introduced to Quinn Dyer, co-owner of the ranch. Oliver has denied his sexual orientation for years. Quinn helps him to come to terms with it. As the two men get to know each other, as each gets past their own personal roadblocks, their feelings for each other grow. All of the stories in this series have been great. This is certainly one of my favorites. I highly recommend listening to this book and getting to know Oliver and Quinn. The narration by Nikola was great, as it always is. Thank you Peter, for this wonderful story.
