I enjoyed this book. It was just what I needed to relax with . the reader did a very good job.

Fantasy romance

Story held my interest to the end. I would have enjoyed the book more if the characters were more nuanced and less perfect. For example, why does Alex have to become the best writer of crime fiction in the world and then fall in love with a man devoid of flaws? What if she had to struggle to get her work published and the man of her dreams turned out to have a gambling problem? I guess it wouldn't be classic Danielle Steele. Overall rating: 3.50 stars rounded up

Huge Fan!

when I was much younger I was a huge fan and loved her books. I have read a few in the last 20 years and was dissatisfied with the plots. This book has brought me back. I loved it!

Great performance, but plot was average. Interesting enough to keep listening, but not overly engaging. Not one of Steel's best.

nice story, not too sappy but a bit predictable. was a great novel to listen to while walking my dog.

The way that Alex never gave up on her dreams, regardless of the obstacles or setbacks she faced.

While the first part of the book started out rather slow, I’m glad I didn’t give up on it. As Alex’s life began moving along after she was sent to live with the nuns at the convent, I was hooked. I loved the premise of this story, with its many twists & turns, and the interesting people who came into Alex’s life along the way. I was intrigued by the glimpses we were given into the life of a successful writer; the amount of drive, focus & self discipline needed, along with raw talent & imagination is impressive. The only thing I didn’t like was the abrupt ending.
