narrative change is cool

love it so far, the changing of narratives is really engaging. plus I really enjoy the tobbaciana in the story.

It’s a decent story, a lot lighter hearted than I’m used to.

It’s an ok story, though I don’t really think much conflict happens. Most of the time the characters are never in danger and laugh their way through every encounter. It’s very much like reading a cRPG including menus, stat lines, crafting, etc.

If you're into pipe smoking, tobacco and RPG this is for you

This was okay but didn't really get into ANY of the mystery of how he got there and why. Way too much description about pipe smoking and pipe tobacco, seriously WAY too much.

The narrator mispronounced "inventory" throughout the entire book.

Very good story

This was a very good story overall. The narrator did a great job. It got a bit too descriptive early on about clothes, saddles and such that it almost lost me. However I stuck with it and it turned out to be part action-packed. I’m a pipe smoker so it’s good to see the hobby represented in a positive light! I would listen to the other books in the series.

Pros
- narrator is decent, but says inventory oddly, like he’s never seen the word
- likeable enough side characters and main character

Cons
- little to no conflict or tension
- overpowered MC
- unrelated MC. He gets transported to another world and he never seems to struggle with it except at the very beginning. So far in the book, he hasn’t tried to find a way back to his sister and girlfriend
