Words of Wellness: Poetry to Bless the Broken-Hearted Believer expresses "thinking of you" to those who need to know they are not alone during a time of brokenness. It conveys what a store-bought card can't convey to those who are grieving over loss and broken dreams. When a dream has been deferred, what can result? A broken heart.
A marriage ending in divorce, abuse at the hands of those who should care, the betrayal of a so-called friend, death of a spouse/loved one, the disappointment from a wayward child’s actions, and regrets from unfulfilled hopes can cause our hearts to break. The good news is that God can use these events to write a new story for our lives!
Broken hearts can and do heal, but we must learn to be flexible and enter into the flow of God's dance as He leads us through the healing process. According to Psalm 34:18, God is near the brokenhearted. As He is close, healing is possible if you are willing to allow yourself to open up to His love to heal your heart. Sometimes spiritual open-heart surgery, as inspired by Ezekiel 36:26, is necessary for healing.
Dr. Vaughn shares the story of her broken heart through poetry. You'll experience her journey of brokenness to victory as she recognizes no one is every going to love her the way God does. Her poetry heightens the listener's awareness to our commonalities when experiencing a broken heart, even though our experiences aren’t cookie-cutter.
