her voice and narration really brings you into a different space. poor recording in a spot during the last chapter but overall you can really feel her presence and wisdom with you. may she rest

This book is a true gem! A glimpse into a culture that’s life changing

Growing up as a woman of color in America is very interesting and different when you compare it to that of the women in Dagara culture. This book opened my eyes a lot to a lot of healing and purpose I’ve missed out on simply because of my upbringing and what I’ve been exposed to. I loved hearing about how they celebrate a woman’s first menstrual period, just as much as I loved hearing about how they interpret death and grief. I appreciate this book so much because it has truly given me insight into what beliefs or traditions I want to instill in my life going forward. It’s never too late to start over!

Great and informative book. I just wish there was more detailed information and guidance on how to perform some of the things mentioned in the book (rituals, building altars,...)
