Love this women!

Tarah inspired me as a women in tech, to push the boundries and don't let any of your so call extras stop you. As a Mature, African, Gay Woman...I walk in my truth and I've found that as long as I'm cool with my situation others tend to follow my lead. I was so humbled by Tarah and her contributors journey and it increased my appreciation for my blessings and my lessons. I learn so much and I've already started implementing her suggestions about building a well rounded journey in tech and life. Thank you Tarah for writing this book, I will someday write my steps so I have some work to do... so enjoying this journey. Please and blessing to you Tarah!

Uncommon common sense - plus inspiration

If only common sense were actually common! Tarah gives good advice around inspiring stories that make it memorable and intuitive. But of course, I'm biased. I wrote the foreword. Honored to have done so!

Fantastic, motivating and superb advice!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If they are a woman in tech; most definitely! This is a must read for every woman in tech, at least if you have even the slightest bit of interest in improving your career ;)

Tarah's style of writing is captivating and not only does she know her way around in the tech world, she is determined to help women in tech, and help us get represented more equally. She gives fantastic advise on how to improve your career and/ or even start your own business in tech.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Women in Tech?

I love how there are stories of Tarah, but also other women in tech weaved into the book. It really makes it all very relatable and motivating. It shows me what other women are going through and they make a woman in tech feel less alone, as we are still pretty underrepresented.

Which scene was your favorite?

I can't really say... well maybe; the part where she talks about leading and starting your own business. But that's because I am in the process of founding a startup so it is a current topic for me.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Not too extreme but the book motivated me even more to want to be a part in the growing tech world, especially as a woman. And to being a part in the movement to help other women in tech, and get into tech.

Any additional comments?

Tarah narrated the book herself and she does a really good job! I loved listening to her.

Not what I thought

Based on the preview I was ecstatic. "Finally a real advice book for women in tech and not just the MEN BAD narrative." But I was wrong. If you don't like the talk of bias, opression, 50/50 men/women workplace split and so on, then don't get this, it will only make you angry. The advice which is about 1 hour total is generic, but good and I have enjoyed it. The stories of the women in tech are interesting. The narration is GREAT (KUDOS to the author). It could have been a great book if it wasn't peppered with the "women have it so tough", "we need to get more women in tech", "bias this and bias that".

TLDR: I was disappointed, but if you feel opressed as a woman in tech you may like it.
