Ryker Weylyn was never the same after rogue wolves tragically killed his mate when he was young. Now bitter and angry at the world, he spends his days hunting down the monsters that took everything away from him. But when circumstances force him to return home after five years of being away, he's shocked to find that his mate is very much alive and breathing.

The only problem is, she doesn't remember him.

Pruitt Bailey always felt like she was missing something more than her memories and dead parents. The only thing she knows about her past is what she has learned from her Aunt. When they make the decision to move to Montana for a fresh start, Pruitt finally feels like she's found where she belongs. And when Ryker shows up, she starts to feel like she's found what's been missing.

Pruitt quickly learns that her childhood isn't what she thought it was and there are threats from her past lurking in the shadows ready to take everything she's found away from her. When those threats make their intensions clear, Ryker and Pruitt must fight for each other and their love.

Will their bond be strong enough to save them?

Contains mature themes.

I loved this book, I'm so glad it's a series. The characters are great and the story is amazing.

Fabulous

The narrators did a great job for the most part. I wish the female had recorded the FMC lines for the Male POV though. Wasn’t a huge fan of the male’s female voice.

The story was good! I think the pacing could use a bit adjusting and the whole Avery plot should have been handled a bit different imo. At least her past with the MMC. It seemed unnecessary and creates a lot of doubt in the reader considering male shifters shouldn’t be able to preform if their mate is still alive. There just needed to be some clean up in in the plot there.

Other than that I enjoyed it! I’m excited to read the next one. I love all the side characters and can’t wait to get some more Remi!!!

Solid Shifter Romance

I really didn't understand the conclusion.
(Spoilers:) I knew Pruitt was going to do something dumb like sacrifice herself without a plan in place because time and time again this book shown us she doesn't think before she acts but her reasoning for sacrificing herself to save Ryker was so silly. Don't know if that's on the author or if the author was just staying true to her reckless FMC by giving her a poorly thought out solution. I know her sacrificing herself was meant to be her strong, take back agency, "alpha" moment but Ryker already explained more than once that without completing the mate bond he'll go mad and he'd kill himself before he turned feral... So how the heck was Pruitt giving herself to Nicoli supposed to keep Ryker alive? She knew they couldn't complete the mate bond, again... the thing that would keep him sane and alive... Mind you he was already close to turning... So what was the point lol? Furthermore, thinking he'd stay away or not kill himself trying to find her via solely a promise was so incredibly dense especially since if roles were reversed she'd search for him or kill herself trying too lol what. Idk, I want to just enjoy and appreciate the free shifter romance and I was entertained (albeit this is predictable and nothing new, but I'm in the mood for that right now) but it was a bit hard to ignore that huge plot hole. I would have preferred an overused kidnapped and rescue conclusion rather than the conclusion we got that highlighted why our FMC isn't the brightest crayon in the box... Sometimes I forget reckless, stubburn FMC's that don't think before acting are considered strong and brave in book spaces...

All in all, this was okay. Didn't care for either lead moreso, I found Pruitt insufferable lol but I liked the lack of spice allowing the story to be told! Would listen to more if they were free to see if there's a smarter FMC to root for.

Okay. But...

Omg

This has a good story to it but very slow paced. The spice in this one was a two chili pepper. I liked the prophecy in this story, kinda cool. The narrators talk fast or recorded fast.

Slow going
