Resumen del Editor

Frank's family taught him that his wolf was dangerous, unwanted. Now his best friend's brother wants him in bed and on stage. But giving into his wolf's need for love could risk the quiet life Frank has created for himself - and his heart.

Settled in the small town of Waycroft Falls, Frank is content to be a lone wolf among the white picket fences and dollar book bins until he finds himself sniffing his best friend's brother. Tom smells like hot apple pie and his Broadway smile has Frank lolling his tongue. But when the visiting actor learns Frank's secret and plies him with hot kisses to get him to star in his play, Frank can't help but wonder if Tom is only acting.

Tom ran away from family obligations to be a Broadway star. If he could make it there, he could make it anywhere...but he didn't. Trudging home to Waycroft Falls to open his sister's new performance space brings him face to face with a werewolf - a werewolf that would be perfect for Tom's shoestring production of Beauty and the Beast. Staying in Tiny Town USA would be worth it if he can somehow convince the sexy wolf to expose his furry condition on stage and howl privately in Tom's bed.

Wolf Around the Corner, a paranormal semi-finalist in Passionate Ink's 2017 Sexy Scribbles Contest, is a full-length fairytale romance with a side of wolf shifter. If you like your romance with gorgeous men, humor, and small-town magic, you'll love Wolf Around the Corner! Buy your copy now and settle in to watch the drama unfold!

Recommended, but listen at 1.25x speed

The thing I liked most about this story is the treatment of werewolves. I liked that there were no typical werewolf tropes: no packs, no fated mates, no alpha/omega dynamics. Lycanthropy, or Galen's Syndrome as it's called, is treated as a recognized, although not well-known, medical condition that affects a small portion of the population. People with Galen's Syndrome are "normal" in every other respect and just have the added ability to shape-change into wolves. Treating the condition in this way gave the book a very real and believable quality. I also felt Frank's comfort with being "out" as gay while struggling to come "out" as someone who can change into a wolf was very believable.

Tom frustrated me a bit. On one hand, yes, it's hard to give up your dreams or realize your dreams have changed. Although his struggle to reassess his life and move forward was believable, Frank was such a sweetie I just wanted Tom to get over himself and admit how much he loved Frank way more quickly!

As far as the narration specifically, I had two complaints:

1. Guy's voice is veeeerrrryyyyy slooooowwwwww aaaaaaaand draaaagggiiiiinnnngggg. This can be alleviated by listening to the book at 1.25x speed. It's far more enjoyable at a slightly faster pace.

2. I didn't care for the voice Guy used for Marcy, Tom's niece. It sounded like a bad stereotype of a child wearing braces on her teeth.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book.

Couldn't finish the story

I'm honestly curious about the story and would love to see how it ends but I honestly can't get past the narration. I've never heard anything else narrated by Guy Veryzer, so I don't know if this is just an unusual performance for him, but it was honestly so distracting. Especially whenever he would voice a child--I've never felt my ears cringe before, but there we have it.

I'll likely buy the book so I can finish the story and support the author, but I can't finish the audio version of this book. Sorry.

Wolf around the corner

The author takes a different look at shifters in this story. Frank is trying his best to stay under the radar and fit in to the small town of Waycroft Falls. When Tom comes back to town to help his sister, he throws chaos into Frank’s world.

This is an interesting take on shifters. I wanted to like this but it missed the mark for me. I found it hard to like the characters and get lost in their plight. Tom seems to only want to use Frank and Frank is much too naïve for me. There does not seem to be much depth or character growth. The Narration by Guy Veryzer was a little over the top for me especially and I was not a fan of the voices that were used and I found it hard to enjoy this story. I received a free copy of this audio book at my own request and voluntarily leave this honest review.
