Resumen del Editor

The incomparable Detective Inspector Napoleon Bonaparte is back - and now he must solve one of his most baffling cases.

When Bony sets out to investigate two bizarre murders at Wirragatta Station, deep in the Australian Outback, all the odds are against him. The crimes were committed a year before, the scent is now cold, and any surviving clues have been confused by a bumbling policeman.

As Bony gets closer to the trail, the mysterious murderer sets out to stop him. Can Bony stop the killer first?

Along Comes Audible!

What made the experience of listening to Winds of Evil the most enjoyable?

I read all of the Napoleon Bonaparte mysteries aboard the USS Intrepid in the Gulf of Tonkin in 1968-69. The library had them all. SInce then I've tried to acquire the books to re-read them -- but they are just too pricey and most are out of print.

Along comes Audible and solves my problem. I've been listening to a mystery or so a month, and they seem to be better in the voice of narrator Peter Hosking. I feel I'm right there in the bush in those days of yore.

It's hard to rate these mysteries any lower than 5 stars. The author's capacity for description, his mixture and conflicts of aboriginal and european mentalities, the very human elements in the plots, and the wonderful way in which we are carried along to the conclusion of the mysteries -- all are just wonderful.

Winds of Evil --- 5 stars. Excelent plot, wonderful caracters and the prevalence of the wind throughout the story line is wonderfully balanced, and dosed out in the right proportions.

Better listening than reading, I think.

Congrats, Audible. Come along again!

Descriptions of life in Outback Australia

This was not one of my favorites, but like all of the Boney books, worth listening to, and the narrator was, as usual, terrific. There were also some very entertaining secondary characters, like Harry and a couple of elderly bush men. Upfield really brings long ago life in the Outback to life. This one in particular had the elderly men describing even earlier life in the Outback! Australian history as entertainment!

One of the Best!

What other book might you compare Winds of Evil to and why?

The Inspector Napoleon Bonaparte Mysteries are unique.

Any additional comments?

I was transported into a world that is so different from my own. Upfield makes the world seem so real. The characters are so believable. The solution to the mystery makes total sense once you know it, however, I bet you can't guess who did it!

This is a Great Series

I really enjoy the history, the story and the narrator. The Boni series is very ingenious employing an aboriginal detective to solve crimes in the outback of Australia in the 1900's. The language, the accent used by the narrator makes for a very entertaining journey.
