Beautifully written and narrated

These are three beautifully written and well narrated short stories, linked by several common factors, and well, watermelon. The first story, Vodka and Watermelons, was written for a not quite end of the world anthology, Fauxpocalypse As the author states in the kindle version "It takes place the morning after everyone on Earth believed the world was going to end...and then it didn't." I think for someone listening to the audible version, it would have helped if the introductory paragraphs that preceded each story in the kindle version had been included in the narration.

I'm not going to spoil these gems for you by saying anything else, except that the second and third stories are followups to the first. For myself, I found it worthwhile springing for the extra US$.99 that Anazon charged to get the kindle version also, but that's up to you. The narration by Jennifer Bossio is just lovely, except where she has a bit of difficulty with the little bit of Hebrew that is in the text. Still, I realize that it is not easy for most English speakers to pronounce "Chalutzim" which is Hebrew for pioneers. Still she tries, and her fine narration with the rest of this 35 minute anthology is a joy to listen to.

End of the World...Maybe

At the beginning of this grouping of 3 short stories, it is the day after the scientific community had, months previously, predicted that the world would end. Problem is: the world didn't end. What does everyone do now?

This book is short, but still worth the listen. These three linked stories have a hopeful theme running through them. The third story especially resonates hopefulness for the future. Well written and nicely narrated, I recommend this audiobook to all audiences.

I requested a review copy of this audiobook; and this is my unbiased opinion.

Will There Be Watermelons on Mars?

A few short tales to entertain. Dealing with the end of the world (or not), a forbidden relationship, even starting over on Mars, I enjoyed the listen.

Both the author, Debbie Manber Kupfer, and narrator, Jennifer Bossio, did a lovely job. This quick book was a great escape.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.

Weird story.

I really couldn't get into this story myself, and had to read it again. All the talk of Watermelons made me think of (sorry) a couple of addicts with the munchies. But still better after the second read.

Well written short stories

Very well written collection of short stories. The narrator was exceptionally good but I found her accent a bit distracting...she seemed to shift between English, Australian, and a Scandinavian/Dutch accented English. My other quibble is that I couldn’t tell where one story ended and the next began. They are linked somewhat by characters so it took a minute to process that I must be in a new story when the plot line changed quite a lot.

I was struck though by how well written the stories were. It’s obviously a quick listen at 35 minutes but a good one.

I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Interesting Read

What did you love best about Will There Be Watermelons on Mars??

I thought it was told in an interesting manner through a series of vignettes. I don't usually listen to or read science fiction books. But, I found I really enjoyed this one. It was a quick listen and I found that I was invested in each section of the story. Though it's short, there was still plenty of character development. If, like me, you do not usually find yourself reading books like this, give it a try anyway.

Mankind's destiny? Oh, I hope so...

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, Definitely! Beautifully relatable; inviting the reader deep within her details. A deliciously short Sci Fi. Main character development poignant and what would any life be without a pet?

What other book might you compare Will There Be Watermelons on Mars? to and why?

I am the newest fan to this genre! All other selections will have to meet her high standards to earn my loyalty.

Have you listened to any of Jennifer Bossio’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is my first audio book. Where have I been? Ms. Bossio's ability to earn a listener's devotion is a no brainer.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Yes, confirmation of my own spiritual journey. It could have been me she was describing in the internal discussion of the Atheist/Christian/Muslim debates.

Any additional comments?

I am thrilled to have won this amazing audio book in a contest, sponsored by BraintoBooks Cybercon, 2017. I congratulate Ms. Mamber Kupfer on her masterpiece-Laura Kester Duerrwaechter, Mary Esther, FL, USA.
