"Who's loving you"

The love stories in this book felt dull and uninspired, offering little to admire or long for. I expected more based on the title and the description, which suggested a deeper and more layered exploration of love. When we speak of love, it isn’t always romantic. I was eager to see it represented in other meaningful ways, such as between a mother and son, a mother and daughter, or a grandmother and her granddaughter. Love, in its truest form, is expansive. It should reach beyond romance and reflect the bonds that sustain us in everyday life.

Unfortunately, this book did not successfully portray love in its platonic or familial dimensions. As a Black woman, it is especially important for me to see the many ways love is exchanged within our communities. Love is not only found in romance but also in the support, nurturing, and strength shared across generations and within friendships. That kind of love deserves to be seen and celebrated. I hoped this story would offer a heartfelt narrative about self-love, family love, and platonic love in a compelling and meaningful way. Instead, it felt limited in scope and missed the opportunity to fully embrace the richness of love in all its forms.
