So twisty...

HOW could I even try to resist this book, with that gorgeous cover? I’m a complete cover wh0r3, I admit it. So I went into this blind, my first read by this author, just because the cover caught my eye.
Written in first-person POV, alternating.
Present tense.

This was a dark, twisty read—I liked it. My first by this author, but I think not my last.

Forced proximity.
Enemies-to-lovers.
Crime families / gangs / cartels.
Lots of banter.
Intense chemistry.
Protective / possessive MMC.
Set in Costa Rica.
T0rture / interrogation.
Jungle adventures.
Action scenes.
Secrets.
“Who did this to you?!?!”



Overall:
A few things struck me as implausible, but they were minor. Overall, this felt ‘legit’, plausible and packs lots of action … of all varieties. A fun read. 4 stars.

🎧 Audio:
Overall smooth, perfect production. Excellent voice-acting from her, and at times from him, though at other times he took a ‘robotic dictation’ approach. Both had beautiful accents and did a great job bringing this to life. 4 stars.

Santiago and Lola

OMG! I think RC gave a really good, interesting and entertaining story. Santiago is this handsome, Dominant, Grumpy, Alpha narco.
Lola is just a loner who cleans houses for a living.
While cleaning one of the houses she hears a noise and witnesses a guy getting murdered by Santiago's nephew. These two meet when Santiago shows up to yell at his nephew and finds Lola hiding. She pleads for her life swearing she will keep her mouth shut and offers to clean up the mess. She intrigues him and he does something that he never does and lets her live but keeps a close eye on her. Santiago is this mean scary narco but hidden is this caring guy that he keeps hidden. Lola I love her. No matter how many times a gun is in her face she never shows fear. She is the only one that has no problem stirring the pot and always talks back to Santiago and anyone who tries to intimidate her. But then there is something more to her than just being a cleaner and she has a way that everyone finds intriguing. She's always helping people, Santiago's daughter who doesn't speak finds Lola and then just starts talking to her. She is not afraid to roam the jungle at night and helps the injured animals she finds. Not only do you get the push of these two, the banter that sometimes unleash into some hot and steamy moments, narco wars, secrets especially Lola and her past, twists, there are some emotional moments as well as funny.


I read and really liked it and I found it even more interesting listening to this. The narrators did a good job the accent so good. The adorable little girl, so cute. The parts with the puma hearing the reactions to those parts was cute, funny and emotional.

Absolutely, yes!

I loved this book and the complexity of the characters. Lola is amazing! Santi is the perfect anti-hero! These two have the chemistry from the very beginning but the trust is a lot harder to figure out. Alma is such a great addition to this story. The tropes are listed so if you any of them catch your attention don't hesitate to get it.

Whoa! This is a good one!

Whoa! This is quite the story! I really enjoyed all the ups and downs that took me through many emotions. Lola is quite the woman! She had quite the inner strength! I loved seeing how there was so much more to her. Santiago is not someone I would not want to cross! He is vicious but yet makes many concessions for Lola! Again quite a story!

Narration is amazing! These two nailed their respective characters! They really brought it up to the next level!
