The simple intricacies of the story
I loved how it was based on the little mermaid but really dove into detail and give this story a new story to tell. I loved how the author wrote Celeste and all her emotions. I am sad that I have to wait for another book, but I would love to hear so of Ridings point of view if possible in the next story! Hopefully we can get more background on the Sun god’s story!

Such a Creative Retelling
I love how refreshing this story is! Everyone knows The Little Mermaid, but you’ll have no idea what to expect in this lovely novel! It is so beautifully written. Kelsey has created such an engaging world! The characters are fantastic and the story leaps off the page!! Can’t wait for her next novel!!

Olds
I remember, vaguely, some media or other saying, “People don’t want news; they want ‘olds.’” Essentially, people want to hear the same old things again and again. This does that. The first chapters read like a very close take on the opening of Disney’s The Little Mermaid. The rest reads as a trite, uninspired fantasy romance with little to no character development and no believable reason for the main characters to be in love. It has its place in the genre, but it’s definitely a comfort read, not something to keep you turning pages, rapt.
