first one was so much better

I guess after listening to the first my expectations were too high. Hard to finish.

this book was Boring and I could not get into the narrator's voice it's a voice I did not enjoy this bjoy this book at all

Loved

I loved the series! I loved that it had a nice ending but she aimed to remain authentic too.

Authenticity is Needed

This is a good story, but black culture is not present. I struggled to get through this story. The historic aspect is spot on, but this story is one of the reasons that I believe the black experience needs to written by black people.

Not as good as Charleston’s daughter

Predictable, drawn out and down right corny at times . The narrator even forgot what voice she was portraying at the end

Cruelty to Caro & Kitty

I enjoyed the very beginning but struggled with the rest of the story-just not for me.

not worth Money

I can't believe I paid for this book. it's nothing like the first in the series. mist of the time, I couldn’t figure who was talking (Emily or Caro). Caro' character was developed as if she was 13. juvenile and ridiculous. the "miss Sass" was obnoxious. it belittled the weight of slavery and war.
