Well told

I disagree with another reviewer, I can see this happening. Doctors aren’t quick to get children tested for autism. Especially when the child is high functioning, they tell you the child will outgrow it. It’s hard as parent to know what is something to be concerned about and what to let go when you have professionals telling you that it’s fine.

Crazy

It’s crazy how social media and keeping up a facade is the new norm. It was a good story.

A surprising gem

This is a parents worst nightmare…and yet emotions have to be carefully curated as it’s on display for the world. The author did a great job of of weaving a story about a family dealing with the insanity of maintaining the “influencer veneer” while life crumbles around them.
You won’t regret this read…even while you dislike the main character.

Being a former small content creator myself I saw the fools gold for what it was so really was able to relate to the pull and push the main character felt as well as the struggles of the others (as I’ve seen how “that life” was robbing me of real life and saw the toll it took on my husband).

Awesome Narrator

Narrator was great. But the story itself was disappointing. It was well written and interesting just seemed like a waste of my time. I kept waiting for a lesson learned or some type of kindness. But no just some jerk being a jerk.

What awful people!

Kept my interest, but couldn’t stand the people in this book. I found it just sad. Narrator did a very good job, however.

Great writing

Fast paced , kept me hooked from the beginning. End could have been a bit better but still lived it.

Storyline and distinctive characters

The story moved along, with an excellent narrator. The characters were so vividly detailed that one wants to yell at them or otherwise shake them! The ending closed the circle in a good way, creating a feeling of calm and safety.

Is social media bad?

I was not sure where the story was going because of the Red Herring? Thrown in. Is that the correct phrase. By the end I got what was being said. But why was the part about Archie and the little girl thrown in? The local girl what was her purpose? Anyway I have a lot of questions that were not answered but I enjoyed the story and the writing style so my ratings is based on that. The voice work was excellent. I wish the story would have gotten there sooner, the airplane ride, the drunk lady, the husband kind of flirting was that all a set up of what is to come after the last page and what was up with the staff looking over the main characters shoulder at the hotel cameras when there is no footage of what ultimately happen to the family, I’m confused but not enough to say don’t read. I still enjoyed myself. As long as a book is written well I’m in for the ride.

Choices we make

The book is fictional however is it ?today’s world it’s all about follows, likes, and recognition. It made me look at commenting on ppl post in a different way.

Wow - did not see that coming!

The narration and production was perfection; the story was a nail biter. It didn’t hurt that you got an inside peek into influencer life in a gorgeous backdrop of Bali.
