Resumen del Editor

Does your church make you uncomfortable?

It’s easy to dream about the “perfect” church - a church that sings just the right songs set to just the right music before the pastor preaches just the right sermon to a room filled with just the right mix of people who happen to agree with you on just about everything.

Chances are your church doesn’t quite look like that. But what if instead of searching for a church that makes us comfortable, we learned to love our church, even when it’s challenging? What if some of the discomfort that we often experience is actually good for us?

This audiobook is a call to embrace the uncomfortable aspects of Christian community, whether that means believing difficult truths, pursuing difficult holiness, or loving difficult people - all for the sake of the gospel, God’s glory, and our joy.

Love Brett

For a heady guy, he writes down to earth.

Excellent book, sub-par reading.

I'm about halfway through the book now, and it is so enriching. There's so much I need to hear, and Brett's writing is full of wisdom. I happen to know Brett personally ;) But I have to say the reading is not great. It sounds like a computer-animated voice, and there are some errors in some places, like repeating phrases, or mispronouncing places and names. If possible, I would have loved if it was read by a more illustrious reader, or by Brett. The book deserved a better reading. Thank you.

Lovely

This book is so lovely. I am challenged and encouraged in myriad ways to push through frustration and discomfort in church and with fellow believers. Brett has honored Christ with this work; Jesus calls us to die to ourselves and love one another. His writing will exhort you to do just that.

Painful !

This book may have some remediable content in chapter 2 or 3 or 4 or somewhere. Sadly I never got there. The author spent nearly the entire first chapter describing in excruciatingly painful detail his mythical "perfect church". During the LONG, LONG detail, he popped off theological terms that would cause a 1st year seminary student to flounder. Maybe this book is just for pastors of his particular denomination.
