Hard Story to hear

One of the hardest audio books for me to ever get thru. I sobbed, I cried, it made me so angry. So very well written! It's not a straight thru listen but well worth the time. "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."

I really enjoyed this book when I first read it, But I loved it when I was able to listen to it. I couldn't stop listening the narrator was amazing. I would recommend this book to anyone. The struggle that this poor girl went through made the second have of the book so worth it. at times it was really hard to read because the abuse that she went through was so sad. I think anyone who has faced abuse should read this book because it really ties into the intense feeling abuse victims get. This book shows that there can be light at the end of the tunnel

Incredible!! Must Read!

I cannot speak highly enough of this raw, emotional and inspiring piece of art. It spoke to me deeper than any memoir I have ever listened to, and I have listened to many. I was drawn to this book having experienced the devil of domestic violence in my own life. Although my experience was different than this incredible woman’s journey, it taught me so much! And even more important than that, is was a source of deep and genuine inspiration. For that, I thank you. Aside from the emotional impact of the book, it was flawless written. I completed it in less than 2 days and could not stop listening. Her words had the power to make you feel as if you know her yourself or were there to experience what she went through. Her strength and courage to share her story undoubtedly will help you spread the ripple effect of awareness and change if you listen to this book.

Great Read

Ugly was a great read by Margaret McHeyzer. Lily has been abused, hurt and abandoned. Her abuse started with her father and ended with her husband. The topic of abuse is a very heavy topic that I believe the author did a good job of handling tastefully. I really enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

and I enjoyed the book it was a real tear-jerker, I just wish it had more about the mother-in-law. And what happened to her. and to his father.

Deep emotional book!

People need to realize that abuse will always haunt us. Lily has been put through hell basically her whole life. With a glimpse of hope Lily’s life comes tumbling down over and over. Until Max a guy who himself deals with haters and had to watch what happens to Lily in his family. This is a very emotional book to me because I was Lily. It’s almost like my story and I felt all the words deeply. I’m a survivor and I have my own Max myself. And like Lily we are loved and deserve it! The narrator brought the story to life I truly loved it! 5/5 stars

OMFG! What did I just listen to????

Here are some adjectives for this book. Unpredictable. Twisted. Evil! OMG! The author is soooo bad and soooo good! This was an up and down sad and happy tear jerker. I thought I KNEW what would happen next. Nope. Not a chance. The story is about a pretty young girl who thinks she is ugly because her dad constantly tells her so. It's a story about domestic violence, choices people make, courage and determination. If I had a teenager I'd get them to listen to this, but it's good for adults, too.

This book really pulled me in!

Yes, this book dealt with a very harsh topic. It really seemed like nothing was going to be okay. Which is why I could not stop listening! I devoured it in just a few days. Also, the narrator did a terrific job. Her voice worked for the main character, and the main characters initial youthfulness. Well done!
