Hard Story to hear

One of the hardest audio books for me to ever get thru. I sobbed, I cried, it made me so angry. So very well written! It's not a straight thru listen but well worth the time. "I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review."

I really enjoyed this book when I first read it, But I loved it when I was able to listen to it. I couldn't stop listening the narrator was amazing. I would recommend this book to anyone. The struggle that this poor girl went through made the second have of the book so worth it. at times it was really hard to read because the abuse that she went through was so sad. I think anyone who has faced abuse should read this book because it really ties into the intense feeling abuse victims get. This book shows that there can be light at the end of the tunnel

Incredible!! Must Read!

I cannot speak highly enough of this raw, emotional and inspiring piece of art. It spoke to me deeper than any memoir I have ever listened to, and I have listened to many. I was drawn to this book having experienced the devil of domestic violence in my own life. Although my experience was different than this incredible woman’s journey, it taught me so much! And even more important than that, is was a source of deep and genuine inspiration. For that, I thank you. Aside from the emotional impact of the book, it was flawless written. I completed it in less than 2 days and could not stop listening. Her words had the power to make you feel as if you know her yourself or were there to experience what she went through. Her strength and courage to share her story undoubtedly will help you spread the ripple effect of awareness and change if you listen to this book.

Great Read

Ugly was a great read by Margaret McHeyzer. Lily has been abused, hurt and abandoned. Her abuse started with her father and ended with her husband. The topic of abuse is a very heavy topic that I believe the author did a good job of handling tastefully. I really enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

I Loved this book, I'm so proud she stayed so strong thru everything she went through, I wish I could go help her. the book was amazing.

This book gutted me!!

I could not put my headphones down. I wasn’t sure about the narrator but she definitely portrayed who the character is and what the character was supposed to be. This book gutted me. I’ve never had such an emotional connection of sorrow that I did while listening to this book. However by the end I was happy and I’m so glad I listen to this!!!

Wow!! What an incredible book!

Becca Ballenger is the perfect narrator for this book. She got every word, every emotion.. right. Her inflection puts you in the middle of the story.
You can see Lily’s struggle with Trent and her reawakening with Max.
Margaret McHeyzer spun a story full of torment and low, low sadness. This story is about Lily’s life in hell and her rebirth in love. Not my usual genre, but WOW!!!!!!

This was very disturbing but I know it is accurate for some women. Would read again.

Brilliant!!!!

A lot of this book was very very difficult to listen to only because I had went through abuse from my father growing up until I was 15 when I ran away. I remember the words he used to call me and how bad it used to hurt so it was incredibly difficult to listen to this book and I almost turned it off several times. I’m glad I finished the book to the end very well written and narration was absolutely on point! I totally like zombie books and usually don’t listen to books like this. But it kept my attention for hours as I worked. I would recommend this book 100%!

wholly cow! its a great book!

I dont even know where to start with this book.
It jumps right in, so hold on to your seats. I cant believe how good this book is. I haven't heard a book this good for a long time, and I listen to about 3 books a week.
I am in love with Lilly, so many times I just wanted to give her hug. She is so strong, and what she has gone through.. I am speechless.
This is my first time listening to anything from Margaret McHeyzer. if all her books are this good, I just found my favorite writer. I have already added more of her books to my wish list.

Becca did an amazing job, and I would happily listen to her again.
