A frustrated soldier is deprived of technology by alien tourists who want to hunt their exotic prey without interruption. An aging courier in a desperate encounter in a land controlled by jealous nobles. A street dealer is squeezed between powerful drug lords and a surveillance state. A young cavalry officer fighting an enemy he does not understand. Two brothers squabbling while the destruction of all life on earth approaches.
Written in clean, clear prose, these stories open windows to other worlds while providing insight into ours.
