Douglas is an intelligent, hard-working, but shy, young man who was deserted by his wife, when she realized he wasn’t a money-making machine. Trish has a reputation as the “runaway bride” because of a storied wedding disaster.
They are attracted to each other, but their painful past becomes a barrier. Douglas does not feel worthy of being a husband, and Trish has a secret she’s afraid to share.
Uninvited attachments cause misunderstandings and drive them further apart. Trish finds herself besieged by and insistent suitor who is fascinated by her reputation. Meanwhile, Douglas’ mother is doing her best to get him married to an attractive business associate.
Finally they have some good luck. Douglas lets something slip that causes Trish to realize how much he loves her. They overcome their self-doubt and are very happy...until Douglas tries to propose.
Sometimes, it is easier to forgive others than to forgive ourselves. Trish’s Secret is a novel about two people who needed forgiveness, and found it in the power of love.
