Resumen del Editor

Richard hasn’t been able to move on after the passing of his wife.

Sam can’t seem to let go after the death of her mother.

But the two of them blame one another for the distance between them.

After Sam’s defiant behavior in school leads to her suspension, Richard has the idea to go back to his hometown for the holidays. Once arriving back in Lebanon, Richard’s life turns upside down when he reconnects with an old flame, pushing Sam further and further away.

With Christmas right around the corner, Richard tries to make things right, but he needs a little help. Abner, a mysterious man who seems to be well-known within the community, offers to guide Richard and his family into good tidings of comfort and joy. Can Richard reconnect with his daughter?

Can Sam move forward?

Who is Abner?

Busy but enjoyable

Overall, I enjoyed the book, but it seemed a little busy to me. There were some aspects to it I liked more than others. I enjoyed the honesty in the struggle of the father/daughter relationship after the mother's death... sadly this happens too often, I've seen it in my own family. I liked the heart of the father as he longed for his sons to be back home together for Christmas, once you are a parent with children living hours away from you and each other, you will understand the significance of this. I also liked "Abner" or the idea of him... just not so much that he told them he was Jesus. As a believer, I know Jesus is with me always, however, I don't believe him to show up in human form and do what Abner did... especially telling people that is who he was. I felt like the book got too wordy in some areas... and it became a little hard to follow in those areas. I was glad in the end to see that the characters decided to live for the Lord.

As a whole, the narrative was done well, but I feel like the wordiness/busyness of the story made the narrative a little difficult at times.
