Resumen del Editor

A guide to integrating indigenous thinking into modern life for a more interconnected and spiritual relationship with our fellow beings, Mother Earth, and the natural ways of the universe.

There is a natural law—a spiritual intelligence that we are all born with that lies within our hearts.

Lakota spiritual leader Doug Good Feather shares the authentic knowledge that has been handed down through the Lakota generations to help you make and recognize this divine connection, centered around the Seven Sacred Directions in the Hoop of Life:

Wiyóhinyanpata—East: New Beginnings

Itókagata—South: The Breath of Life

Wiyóhpeyata—West: The Healing Powers

Wazíyata—North: Earth Medicine

Wankátakáb—Above: The Great Mystery

Khúta—Below: The Source of Life

Hóchoka—Center: The Center of Life

Once you begin to understand and recognize these strands, you can integrate them into modern life through the Threefold Path:

The Way of the Seven Generations—Conscious living

The Way of the Buffalo—Mindful consumption

The Way of the Community—Collective impact

A medicine for the modern crisis

Doug Good Feather shares the indigenous wisdom of the Lakota nation with grace, passion, and wit. It is both aspirational and practical. I enjoyed the stories, the insights, and the critique of our consumerist way of life.

Medicine & Healing for our communities

This book revealed itself to me in a way that was very intentional because I was looking for a different book!

Doug Good Feather has a beautiful way of writing and speaking. His voice and words are filled with much Aloha, wisdom and inspiration. May his voice and thoughts touch the heart every human who is living with Grandmother Earth. May they awaken your spirit to choose to live in harmony with Grandmother Earth and all living beings.

This book is for any human who wishes to heal themselves and their communities, to strengthen their connection with Grandmother Earth so that they create a mindful coexistence with all living beings, and to listen with an open heart.

I have already gifted and recommended this book to two other humans. I wish this review to be my recommendation for you.
I will definitely be listening to Doug Good Feathers book again and again because there is so much resonance.

Look Deeper

This book is a deeper understanding of how we can make a difference within our environment and ourselves. It always starts within the soul of who we are then the outward world.

editors need to pay attention to the details

they seem to have missed certain areas where Doug was sharing the translation of certain terms and phrases and the beginning of the words are muted out for some reason. very frustrating when one is so anxious to learn and yet gets clipped off at the most important points.

Simply a MUST read!!!

I have been a business post secondary educator for over two decades, and if I could leave a legacy, it would be to make Native Philosophy studies MANDATORY for all business programs. Why? Because I was fortunate enough to grow up way back in the country, so I inherently understood our natural connection with Mother Earth AND I 100% believe this is what most of my business students are missing!! They see earth as a resource rather than THE source of all there is to assure our collective well being. Therefore, they go forth mostly seeking to “take without replacing” in the name of profits. If I had the power, environmental studies and intern nature experiences would be part of our curriculum from k-12 and beyond. This book has become as meaningful to me as Blessed Unrest by Paul Hawken. Truly, two works of art that if “lived” would literately save our species.
