Exceptional

A book this good comes around maybe once every 10 years and I’m glad I was a part of the journey. If book two is anything like book one, I’m sold.

If you like Nora Roberts’ fantasy books then you’ll love this book!

Loved it.

I always enjoy Eva Chase's books and was excited to start this new series. As I listened to the audiobook, I enjoyed how the narrator brought the characters to life in a way that made you feel like you were part of the story. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Dark Fantasy Filled With Intrigue

This was my first experience with Eva Chase's work, and it was fascinating. The worldbuilding was complex. The characters were complicated, and Ivy's character was a blend of both light and dark traits. The story contained some surprising twists and kept my attention. There were a couple of descriptive steamy scenes. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series. Michelle Sparks' narration was entertaining and enhanced my enjoyment of the tale. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

A great book especially with how picky I am but I'm sad it's over ..

great book

My first time reading/listening to a Eva Chase book, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I enjoyed the build up of Ivys character. I really enjoyed Michelle Sparks narration of this books.

this book just pulled me in and would not let me go. I couldn't stop listening once I started reading and listening. so excited for all of them

Amazing story

I love Eva Chase! She has always astonished me with her writing! And this book does not disappoint me in that aspect. While I'm not one for a slow-burn, the action and story line, plot and characters are on point, making the slow-burn fantastic! However, I felt that the narrator in this book was reading everything line for line, like she was stating facts. The 'voices' she used sounded great, but it felt like she told the story the same way that Kristen Stewart acted in "Twilight", very monotone.

Good start to a new series

Great start to a new series. The magic system is very interesting and I like how the quest/work that Ivy kind of got roped into kind of goes hand in hand with what she was doing anyway, but on a much grander scale.

Thief!

I really enjoyed this story. Ivy being a thief, but pretending to be a noble with an extra soul stuck in her body is a fun concept. Her new companions that are supposed to assist with the investigation in to scourge sorcery are a great trio to help lead this series. I look forward to listening to more books in this series. The narrator did a great job bringing life into each character.

I have been devouring books by Eva Chase since before I created my bookstagram page. This is the first time I have been honored to receive an ARC copy for review. If you're looking for a fantasy with a side of spice where the female doesn't have to choose, this is the perfect book for you. It has a bit of a Robin hood element to it that made it even that much sweeter for me. The extent of detail makes it so it is easy to envision the story as it's being read. The character growth of the FMC is great, as well as the 4 men, and I can't wait to see what the future holds for this group in the next book!

My heat rating is based on the amount of occurrence, length of scenes, and how filthy/unconventional the scenes are. This series seems to be following that of Eva's other series that I have read where the first book is very mild. In her previous series, there is often more in future books. This rates a 2/5 🌶.

Edited to add: I have since listened to the audiobook as well, and I highly recommend it.
