Loved the new Charlie Parker Novel

I thought this entry into the Charlie Parker series was one of the better Parker stories. The pacing and the more direct clash with the occult made it an edge of your seat kind of read.

story was sometimes hard to follow, especially at the beginning. Too much jumping around to keep plot and characters straight.

This is the first book i have read/listened to by this author.i intend to rectify that situation immediately.

Not crazy about the narration.

After having read every book in this series, it annoys me to listen to narrator, Jeff Harding, get the name of a major character wrong. The name is Louis, not Louie! Harding's entire portrayal of Louis is as off as the way he pronounces locations in Maine. Not that he's not good at narration, but more attention to the characters and locations is needed. This is not his first Parker Series narration, so he should have done his homework by now.

As for the content, I love reading everything John Connolly writes. I am growing weary of all the ghosts that crop up in his stories, but I feel they are an important thread connecting the underlying supernatural theme in the individual novels. This one ended with to be continued stamped all over it. Anyone else getting the slight Lovecraftian vibe? Must be patient and keep reading. John Connolly will not disappoint.

Decent story, odd narration.

Story plot was interesting: murder, mystery, a little sci-fi mixed in. The narrator took some getting used to. He generally did a good job of switching voices for the characters, which isn’t always easy for a man doing women’s voices. His take on a characters voice from Indiana though, was almost insulting. If a man owns and runs a successful diner, helps abused women, is a rare book collector and reader, it doesn’t follow he should be given a dumb- hick kind of voice just because he’s in rural Indiana. It often felt like he was reading a to-do list or instruction manual.
