Nora Pennington, the owner of Miracle Books, believes that a well-chosen novel can bring healing and hope. But she and the rest of the members of the Secret, Book, and Scone Society know that, sometimes, practical help is needed, too. Such is the case with the reed-thin girl hiding in the fiction section of Nora's store, wearing a hospital ID and a patchwork of faded bruises. She calls herself Abilene, and, although Nora and her friends offer work, shelter, and a supportive ear, their guest isn't ready to divulge her secrets.
But when a customer is found dead in an assumed suicide, Nora uncovers a connection that points to Abilene...as either a suspect or another target. When a second death hits town, Nora and her intrepid friends must help the greenhorn sheriff discern fact from fiction and stop the killer before another story is prematurely brought to a close.

The best series I've ever read. Can't wait for book 3. I love everything about this series. Only thing missing is a cat. Nora needs a kitty. Can't wait to read Witch of Blackbird Pond. Such great book recommendations !

Really Lovely bookish mystery
This is the second book taking place in Miracle Springs. Great characters, well developed & beautifully flawed. The mystery is clever enough that it can’t be guessed immediately and nicely developed. Recommend both books - the audible edition is well narrated

I’m Enchanted
What a lovely cozy story. It warms my heart, and causes me to consider relying less on audiobooks and pick up some paper stories again. Books in our hands should never be lost. I love this series of sweet tales that take me to a softer world , away from the harshness of these times in 2022.

Another good installment
Another good installment of in the series. I hope that some of the hinted past shows up in the main characters storyline. I do wish that the narrators would loosen up in scenes. Her tone works for most of the novel but there was times when the character was being moved by emotion but the narrator still sounded stiff.
