Dr. William Whimsy is 16th century genius. He fantasizes about a perfect society free from the flaws of humanity. As far as Dr. Whimsy is concerned, humanity within a perfect society doesn't mean that one has to be human. This fantasy leads him to conduct an experiment involving a parahuman (half human and half animal hybrid) society without the ugliness of man. A beautiful and whimsical underground world would serve as the home for the new society.
With the help of his beloved staff, Dr. Whimsy is able to make his dream come true. Trusting lab students volunteer as test subjects while fellow senior scientists assist him with monitoring the students. Throughout the experiment, jealousy, and betrayal unfold. With problems already underway, it looks as though the perfect society won't be so perfect after all.
