New York Times best-selling author Julie Garwood has captured the hearts of millions of listeners worldwide with timeless tales of love and soaring adventure. Now, returning to the enchanting world of her classic love story “The Bride,” she brings to glorious life the passion, intrigue, and rivalry of medieval Scotland....

Resigned to an arranged marriage to a highland laird she has never met, Lady Brenna journeys from England to Scotland certain she will suffer a loveless marriage. But en route to her betrothed, a rival band of Werce, painted warriors intercept her caravan and demand that she marry their leader -- the handsome, quick-tempered laird Connor MacAlister, the same man she'd repeatedly proposed to as a child while he'd been a visitor to her father's castle.

Though Brenna scarcely remembers the secret missives she'd sent to MacAlister declaring her love, she has never forgotten the tall visitor's dazzling, unexpected smile. Now older and wiser, Brenna harbors no illusions that Connor is in love with her -- indeed, after a hasty forest wedding, Connor assures her she can return home once she has borne him a son. Lady Brenna has no idea that her capture is merely the first act of vengeance against her betrothed, Connor's sworn enemy.

Determined to be happy, Brenna soon endears herself to most of the MacAlister clan, despite -- or perhaps because of -- her uncanny knack for getting into trouble. And although she comes to adore her brave, superstitious, gentle husband, she has no clue that Connor lives for the moments she whispers "I love you"...words she never meant him to hear. But, as she sets out to win the heart of the brave chieftain, a legacy of revenge ensnares Brenna in a furious clan war -- and only her faith in her gallant husband can save her....

Any additional comments?

I can count on Julie Garwood to give me a good book that I can escape into. But I really like the ones set in the Highlands. There's nothing like a Highland warrior. (Hot flash!) But no matter how good the story, the narration really makes a difference. Heather Wilds doesn't just read the story, she brings it to life. I want to listen to more stories read by Heather Wilds.

Would you listen to The Wedding again? Why?

Yes. This is one of my favorite Garwood audiobooks. I really enjoyed the story and characters, and Heather Wilds brings it all together nicely.

What about Heather Wilds’s performance did you like?

She did a wonderful job with character distinction with her voice, but she did particularly well with conveying the right emotions at the right times. She really brought the story and characters to life, and I enjoyed her performance for this one.

Any additional comments?

Garwood often excels at her ability to write witty, entertaining dialogue with her characters more than her characterization and plot development, and this book does not fail on that account. The combination of this banter with likable protagonists made this story one worth listening to. I found Brenna charming and endearing with her particular outlook on life and relationships, and I enjoyed her pairing with Connor. Their contrast in ideologies and personalities made their romance compelling, and Connor's arrogant virility worked just right. If you're a fan of a good highland romance with fun dialogue, this is a book you shouldn't pass up!

One of My Favorite Garwood Books!

A very delightful, entertaining, and different book. And I was impressed with the author who has enough of a vocabulary that she does not have to use foul language and explicit language to tell the story. There were times when I was laughing out loud.

Great book

I liked the story, although Julie Garwood can get a bit overly detailed. Garwood can take 15 minutes to get to one small point. However her books are romantic. I had high hope for Heather Wildes and kept trying to get into her narration, but she was just awful. She read the story...like reading a financial report...there was NO performance. The "warrior" best friends of the hero sounded like young boys at best...young girls at worst. Heather sometimes wandered into a sort of male voice but it didn't last. If there was more than one male talking it was impossible to keep straight who was who. The story was a pretty good continuation of the Bride, which I loved...but it really MISSED Roz Landor.

Good story. Poor narrator.
